I really need some imput here.
When adopting from another state how long after you are matched before you meet the child? Do the pay for you to travel to their state? How long do you have to stay in their state before you can take them home? Do you have to travel to their state? I've asked my worker and she says it varies. So, I thought I would come here and ask if any one had actually done this, could they tell me how theirs went. Please, I just need something to go by.

Your worker is right. It varies from state to state and is sometimes based on the child's need. Some states do the interstate paperwork quickly while others drag it out for months.
The amount of visits and time in state varies. MY first son's foster parents wanted him moved the same day his sister went to her adoptive family so he came home with us the third weekend we went to see him. A judge approved the move accross state lines in an emergency hearing. Every state has it's own rules. I've heard Indiana and Illinois are two of the harder states to do ICPC with, but don't have any experience with that state. Kansas and MO have both been fairly easy. There really is no straight answer for this question. |

Ok, here's a couple more questions. Do both parents have to travel? I am a stay at home mom, so the child would spend all of her time with me, so could just I go?
Do you have to travel more than once? I have 2 bio children, so I am just trying to get and idea what we will have to deal with. Once again I know it varies. I am just asking what other people have personally gone through.

We both traveled on the weekends, but it was only about 4 hours for us each way. I know with my in state adoptions I did visits without my husband so I'm not sure.
