Hey everyone... We are still waiting ... our birthmom is due in about 3 weeks and this is our second adoption.. I won't even get into the story with our first horror with ICPC but it was the agencies fault. however, that was 8 years ago. I wanted to get a better feel of how long you guys have waited for ICPC approval if you had to take that route. We are adopting in Texas and living in Pennsylvania.. We will be terminating and finalizing in Texas due to their wonderful adoption laws. Any input would be a huge help.

Hi
From our research and what our agency has told us. ICPC will take 7-10 business days from the time of relinquishment. They said they would call us with the ok from ICPC to leave the state. There is no paperwork you get, it's all verbal. Good luck with your new bundle of joy!!!! |

positive example - We're in Idaho & adopted from Georgia. The day before we flew to GA, the agency there let us know that ICPC was done & we could turn around & come straight back home if that's what we wanted to do (didn't - wanted to stay & meet dd's birthmom)....Good luck to you on your upcoming ICPC !!

We live in Missouri and we adopted our daughter in CA. Since our daughter is 1/4 American Indian, we had to get clearance through 3 tribes and we were in CA for 3 weeks and 1 day..That was a long time with a newborn. We should of only stayed there less than 2 weeks. One of the tribes kept saying they didn't get any paperwork!!! A big lie!!
Oh well, we were blessed with our daughter, so it was worth the wait!!! Hopefully this time it will be less than 2 weeks. We are adopting in FL, so I know that wait will be less time..Good luck to you and congrats on your soon baby!! Cathy

ICPC
ICPC cleared for me in 5 days from relinquishment to the call for clearance to leave the state. The states involved were Oklahoma and Georgia. It helped to stay in lodging with full kitchen facilities.

We're waiting out the ICPC in Georgia right now. Let you know how it goes! Someday we'll go back to Alabama and get to use that room we remodeled into a nursery.
