Most people I personally know would be fine adopting twins, if that's what they were matched with.
It happens that most people I know are adopting after discovering their inability to have biological offspring, so adopting two at once would mean they didn't have to go through the process twice to get the American standard of two children. Personally, we're adopting through the state foster care system, and are open to sibling groups, so a group of 2 or 3 that happened to be born at the same time would be just fine with us, too. |

HI! Thanks for your reply! I thought so! I know my hubby and I are. We are being shown to a bmom and dad next week who just gave birth to a baby boy and girl. I am trying not to get excited cause I know she is going to be looking at lots of profiles so we have have a lot of competition. I know that God already knows if these are to be my babies are not! I will know by the end of next week!!

As an adoptive mom of twin girls, I can tell you you're in for the experience of a lifetime if you're chosen to parent these little ones. My girls have filled my life with tons of joy!

Wow!!!
How old are your girls? I bet you were sooo excited when you were picked! Do you know what it was about yourself that the bmom chose you? I just am wondering what the babies parents would be looking for ? I just have to pray for peace the next week cause it's sooo not in my hands!
Did your bmom pick you before she gave birth? I would love to know your story if you feel like sharing!! God Bless! |

As new aparents to twins, I can say that it all depends on the other couple's your agency is working with. Our agency only had two couples out of ten that would accept twins. Since bmom didn't want to look at profiles, our agency chose us for her simply because we were in the same state.
On the side of bringing them home, if you are bringing home infants, make sure you get lots of bottles. We had been prepared for one child. I thought we'd have enough bottles for both boys, but we were doing bottles every 12 to 16 hours. We stocked up on many more and now only do them every 36 hours. They are a true joy and loads of fun. Get some sleep now though.

Don't worry-I am sure many adoptive parents would love to adopt twins. My father (&aunt) are twins and my husband's uncle's are twins. We always thought if a bparent chose us to adopt twins we would be very fortunate because we see how close our uncles are, and my father & aunt are... it's pretty special.
Good luck. Julie |

Thanks!
Thanks for your imput and well wishes everyone!!
Holly, Congrats on your twins!!! I can't believe that out of 10 couples only 2 would take twins! I suppose maybe it might be a financial thing for some people. For the twin situation I am up for next week they are full hispanic and tested positive for drugs. Although, the mother claims she only used once towards the end of her pregnancy. The babies are also 2weeks premie but, appear to be healthy. This sounds so self but, I am hoping that not everyone that would be open to twins would be open to this senario. I know its in Gods hands but, the anticipation is sooooo hard! |

My daughters just turned 2 in May. We were chosen by their birthmom two weeks before they were born, met her one week before the birth, then the girls arrived nine weeks early! They spent 29 days in the NICU, but came home very healthy and have stayed that way.
Honestly, I'm not exactly sure what led her to choose us over the other couples she was offered. I think part of it was we have a large extended family that we're very close to. She also mentioned that the pictures in our profile showed us to be very happy people. Parenting twins is a happy, hectic roller-coaster ride! The best advice I can give new parents of twins is: accept ALL the help that you're offered. I found myself feeling that I had to be Supermom because not only had I sought out adoption, but I chose to adopt twins. That's not true...you're still a human being and you can only do so much. So if someone offers to help you with cleaning or cooking meals or doing laundry....ACCEPT! And...sleep when the babies sleep. Believe me, you'll need it. If you'd like to chat more about this personally, please PM me and I'll give you my email address. Good luck! |

What great news!
SuperTrev,
Wonderful news! I'm happy to hear about the possibility. Financial issues would be our only hesitation about twins. 2 of everything, including day care expenses (I'll be continuing work after an initial leave). We were actually approached re: triplets about a month ago and we knew right away we couldn't handle them. Other than $$$ I think twins would be wonderful. Hope it goes well! |
