Lightbulb engaged couples

First off, I am new to all of this adoption stuff, as you will be able to tell by my ignorance...lol. But here is the situation, if a young lady wants to adopt and has been cleared to adopt, but she starts dating someone and wants to marry someone, how does that affect the adoption? I have more details, but am leary of posting them all on here. If anyone has infomation and can help me, please let me know. I am trying to research it as much as possible and am hoping someone can shed some light on this for me. Thank you for your time.

Darin

Darin:

If the woman has finished her homestudy and is waiting, she will have to do an updated homestudy that includes the man. He will have to complete everything as she did especially if they are living in the same house at this time. All household residence must meet the requirements for adoption.

Hope that helps!

If this young lady is being honest with the agency, she should tell them of the change in her status (ie: engaged). The agency would probably ask that they meet with the significant other, to be sure of the family situation a child might be placed in. If a homestudy was done, a suspect it would need to be revised.
