Angry I've been lied to; the child is still waiting

I can hardly believe the discovery I just made. K was supposed to be adopted by relatives two years ago, but I saw her today and she is still stuck in a long term nursing facility for special needs children. I spent a year visiting her almost daily and taking her on 12 hour passes to my home up to four times a week. I was informed that family would be adopting her and told to stop the visits. Two years ago they said she had moved. More recently they told me she had adjusted well to her new home. She never moved! The relatives never came to get her or completed the training they need to have her placed with them. Now she is further behind than she likely would be had she come to a home as a baby. Now I have another medical baby I am adopting and am wondering if I could parent her too. I haven't seen her in two years and there are things I don't know about her development and diagnoses now. I am not sure what to do next. I don't know if there is anything I can do. She does not need to be in the medical center. She hasn't needed to be there for a few years, but the agency has been keeping her there until the family comes to get her. I offered to take her into my home in foster care until they came, but was told they would be here in a week - that was 2 years ago! What can I do?

Contact the agency again or the state sw. Maybe things have changed and the family no longer wants to bring her home.

Good luck to you

I agree that you need to contact an agency or SW, and if they are in the state system, you can go as far as contacting your local congressperson or assemblyperson -- they work for you afterall!

If you don't get a response from the above suggestions, don't be afraid to contact your local TV station and tell them about it. That would be a surefire human interest story -- especially with Mother's Day coming up!
