The adoption agency...

Ultimately until the adoption is finalized they are the legal guardians of our son, our son's parents are merely foster parents, and our rights as parents are long past. That said the adoption agency does for a time, hold all the cards so to speak.

This is my opinion, and just my opinion, that the adoption agency got nervous after the February visit that our sons mom was revealing too much about family problems that have come about with them since our son's arrival. I believe they were concerned that this might upset me enough that we might bring this up and contest the adoption. In our state adoptions cannot be finalized until the child is at least six months old. The visit occured when our son was five months old.

I remember the caseworker in a phone conversation just days after this visit saying exactly this "We have decided that there will be no contact between all of you for the next 60 days". Also during the visit I suggested the the Afather might feel better when the adoption is finalized and I asked when it would be final. The adoption worker was very vague and hesitant to give me any information on this. Why 60 days of no contact? In my opinion it is becase the adoption would be final after 60 days and thus no chance of any additional information the Amom telling me causing me further reason for upset and potentially upsetting the apple cart.

That said I think the adoption agency is doing a lousy job. The caseworker hasn't helped me at all in any way and they don't appear to be doing a very great job with helping our son's parents work through their issues either. Arrrrgggh!
