Thumbs down Pregnant by Jesus? Read the story, new international adoption scam of sorts

Just saw this article in the search engine, and was shocked.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/3558310.stm

My son is Kenyan, I guess that is why I was intrigued by the article. This man (Gilbert Deya) is apparently praying over infertile women who them are "miraclously" pregnant by Jesus. The women then travel 9 mons later to Kenya to deliver the baby who is most likely a local born baby abandoned by the mother. Kenya has a very high rate of abandoned infants, but not very clear process for legal adoptions. This however is NOT the way to go.
Just wanted to share the story......Tell me what you think

I did but am confused on what is going on!! Are they just "saying" they are pg then coming back with babies that were actually stolen?? Wasn't it obvious they weren't pg??

I wonder if, rather than the couples taking part in the scam (which is possible too), they are experiencing a psychosomatic pregnancy. These are people who are so desperate that they would belive that this could be real. Its sort of like faith healers. Many times it does work but may be more mind over matter. It never said if the couple has to be screaned or anything ahead of time. I would guess they do. These women are so desperate and belive so hard, which is why they are chosen. If a woman doesn't become 'pregnant' I wonder if they are then told it was because they didn't have faith. I am sure many of the women in these forums can relate to the women who get caught up in this. Many might have tried the 'faith healer' route themselves and it may have even worked for some.

I wish the article went into more detail about this. Freaky stuff. Thanks for sharing it. Desperate times, I guess.

I wondered how they "delivered" the miracle baby. I mean did they put the woman under and she woke up to a baby? The other theory is that the women know all along they are getting a baby born to another woman. Its's just plan horrible & this Deya should be in jail.

Maybe he is like som cult leader and he has them brainwashed into believing they are pregnant?
