Missouri adoption laws?

We were contacted by a birth mom last week about adopting her baby. I have several questions about how it all works. We live in IL, mom lives in Missouri..and baby will be born in Kansas. I understand Missouri law will be the one governing the adoption process even though baby is born in Kansas? is that right? I have lots of questions if anyone else has adopted from Missouri and lived in IL.
Thanks

I was born in MO and relinquished there. I would think that if the mom has the child in MO and relinquishes it there the state of MO would have jurisdiction, If she takes the child to KS and then relinquishes the child then I would suspect KS would be in charge of proceedings. I suggest you contact a lawyer versed in such matters. Good luck.
