Get Sick while Adopting ??????
Hey all, I am not sure what to say, or where to begin... I am wondering, if anyone, or if anyone knows anyone that has gottn' a major illness while they were in the waiting to adopt stage of their adoption...
I have just recently found out that I am sick. It is not life threating. But I will be down, and out of commission for probably about 2 to 3 months... I am really afraid that something will come along, and we will have to turn it down. Or that we will be denied, being able to adopt now, because of my illness. It is not contagious, or anything like that. It is a small tumor on my brain, beside my ear canal. It is not cancerous, and will be treated with radiation.. None the less, I am worried about it. Cause with life, there are no guarentee's... I would like to talk to anyone that has been down this path... I would also appreciate all of the prayers that I can get... Thanks, Gina

Gina - I'm sorry to hear the news but happy to hear that you'll be receiving treatment and hopefully within 3 months, this will all be behind you.
While this might put your adoption plans on hold, it should not in any way deny you the possibility to adopt. Have you contacted your agency or sw? I'm sure they will be sympathetic and help you figure out the best way to continue with the adoption plans when you are physically able to do so. For now, take care of yourself! Crick

Thank You all for the thoughts and well wishes... They are truly appreciated at this time in my life...
Although they say this is nothing to worry about, I have thought alot about it. Most of my thoughts I am recording in my journal. But not all of them... I am how ever trying not to leave things unsaid in my life... This has made me realize how short life is. And how to treasure what is truly a gift to me. It also has made me realize, what is important to me, and what is not.. If you know what I mean... Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers... Oh and Paige, thank you for the encouraging words... It is sooooooooo nice to know that I have contributed to someone's life, besides my own families... (((((((HUGS))))))))) Gina

Just a quick update... I am at the hotel.. I go in in the morning for the biopsy, and my radiation treatment.. I will get to go home tomorrow, if everything goes ok... But we are going to spend the night, cause it is a long hard drive...

I will be praying for you in this difficult time. I also wanted to let you know that I am a kidney transplant recipient and I was able to adopt as a single person. I was on dialysis for five years and then had my transplant. I have had a few complications along the way and transplants are not a cure so I could get sick again at any time. (Just praying it's a long time from now) But I was still able to be a foster parent and am hoping to adopt my fost/adopt son in July.
I just know that I need to have back up in case I go in the hospital (which I tend to do a lot) but I know that it's doable. I also know that I will be able to be a great parent even if I have to go back on dialysis again even though I shudder at the thought. It would be draining and hard but I know that I can do anything I put my mind to and I bet you're the same way. I don't know if you are married but if you are, your husband will be able to help a lot. Just remember to concentrate on getting healthy and strong. No worries. Things tend to all work out in the end. You have my prayers.

I just wanted to let ya'll that I am still alive, and kicking...lol I had my first treatment Wed. And it made me really sick... So I am not looking forward to the rest of them... UGH! The (((((HUGS)))))))) and prayers are GREATLY appreciated.... Love, Gina
