Hi there....I'm in MA. Welcome to the forum !!!

What ages are you thinking of fostering? Right now I am fostering in the general age range of Kindergarten to 3rd grade. Six yrs ago I started out with a 12 mo old and a 2-1/2 yr old. I eventually adopted them so I am fostering kids who are in their age range (now 7 and 9 yrs old).

When I began I needed a crib, highchair, port-a-pen, etc. I stocked up on necessities such as liquid pain reliever, cough syrup, thermometer, baby shampoo, a variety of toothbrushes, etc. I also started visiting yard sales to pick up P.J's, jackets, winter boots, etc. I found lots of nice clothing at the yard sales, too.

There is a nice high end thrift shop near my house and I buy a supply of soft/squishy stuffed animals. Some of the kids come with only the clothes that they are wearing and they enjoy being able to choose a stuffed animal to take to bed with them that first night.

Good luck with fostering, it's so exciting when you finally get that phone call for your first placement Well, actually, it's exciting each time you get that call.
