Respite Care....Telling Child About
We are having respite care this weekend so that my husband and I can have some quality adult time. We told our 5 yr old fd about it today and she seemed to take it ok. Any advice on what to do if her attitude and behavior changes between now and time to go to the respite families house on Friday.

You could make her a paper chain, so that each night she goes to bed while at respite it can help her count down when you'll return (assuming its longer than 1 night). You can also ask her to hold onto something thats yours, that she can keep safe while you are gone, and she can give to you when you return.
I would just try to prepare her of what to expect before the time comes, so its not too shocking to her. Provide the respite provider with your routine, so if they can follow it as much as possible, it will help. Just expect some acting out before and especially after... even up to a week. Hopefully she'll surprise you and really take it well. Good luck and enjoy your weekend!!!

Thank you all for your advice, I can use all the advice I can get, I am so new at this parenting thing it isn't funny. I've been an aunt for 23 years and I am finding that there is so much more to parenting.
