Introduction and First Placement
Hello all! I would like to introduce myself. I have been 'lurking' and gleaning information for a few days now and decided that now was as good a time as any to register and start gabbing!
I have wanted to be a foster parent since my first daughter was born 10 years ago. I have 4 other bio children and decided that now is finally the time to make that dream a reality. It took nearly a year from my initial phone call, to receiving our license, but only about a week from receiving our license to our first placement. We have had this beautiful 2 mth old baby boy (C) for about two weeks now. Our intention is only to foster, but were licensed fost/adopt as we are wanting to be prepared, should the option present itself. I must say, I didn't expect it to be this wonderful, though. I complained a fair amount through the licensing process. I think it is so personal, that you can get easily defensive and frustrated with all the red tape when 'all you are trying to do is HELP!' But, I must say, that if we never received another placement, the last two weeks with this little fella were worth the aggravation. The child is a joy, but the family situation (we are allowed no contact with them and have to jump through all these hoops so that they don't find where C is living now - we even have to use a different name in public - like the Witness Protection Plan or something) is not an easy one. But, God is good and has granted peace in the midst. Anyway, I just wanted to say 'hi'! And I am so happy to be here! |

Hi there Beccayinn! I'm a newbie, too! And as MamaTo6 warned, I have become completely addicted
We are not actually foster parents yet, but we started the training and certification process in August. I just got a call from our agency yesterday and we are scheduled for a meeting next Monday to finalize our certification! We are so excited!~B |

hi everybody, I am new here too and we have been an a/f home for 5 yrs. as we went into this it was only to foster and you know what happened next, they sent us 2 little ones that we could'nt say no to. they were our second placement. we adopted them as well as a 3rd sibling 2 yrs. ago. now we have 2 more sibs. we are waiting to get started on. our ages are 7,5,3,2, and 5 months. the 4 are biracial and 1 is cauc. we don't care at all. we fell in love. in my state we are only allowed 6 kids under 18 so we are only opened for 1 more which I wish we could have a dozen more. foster care is addictive. good luck and enjoy every child you get.
