One wait may be over...or it could be a false alarm

Just got a call about a 1 month old baby girl as a foster placement. And of course I said yes. So now I'm waiting for a call from her cwer. We'll see if she is placed or not. It could be another false alarm, had one of those last week. But in any case we're still waiting for a fost/adopt placement. I'll keep you posted.

anyone else's phone ring????

Hope they call back soon! At least for this one, you won't have to put blue sheets in the pink nursery!

So far so good. They've called to confirm the arrival, between 4p-5p. But no baby yet. I was so glad I didn't have to change sheets, but did have to adjust the crib level to the highest level instead of the lowest. I still haven't told Om & Raj yet, because if the plan happens to change then they'll be upset.

The whole house is cleaned and all the laundry is done. We have plenty of veggies, milk and quick dinners on hand. I imagine we'll be making a trip to Wal-Mart tonight or tomorrow for some of the essentials that fdaughter doesn't come with. DH is out of town until friday so I'm going to try to hold off on a big shopping trip until then, or I may get really brave and take all 3 with me.

Wish me luck,
LeenaB

Let us know!!! I am so excited for you. My favorite time is after the baby arrives, and we get to all load up in hte car, drive to Walmart and SHOP. Then of course, that very first night when you are tucking the wee baby into bed. They have had their bath, been fed well, and are SAFE and SECURE. You just have to wonder if this is the first time they have ever had this feeling?

Congrats!!

Re: yanknrebel

WOW!
What you said really had an impact on me!! We are awaiting our first placement....I hadn't quite gone there in my mind. I mean, I KNOW that these children come from rough surroundings but to think that sometimes we are the FIRST people in their lives to treat them the way they should be treated...WOW!
I can't wait for that chance to be that for a baby!

Congrats on your placements Leena and McKenna!!! I can smell the sweet aroma of lotion just thinking about it, and to be perfectly honest I'm a little jealous....my "baby" is turning into a little man ....I LOVE all the stages, but they do grow quick.

Well, the baby arrived. She's cute as can be. But she's still awake at nearly 1am. I knew there was a reason why she's our first young young baby (6 weeks old). LOL.

She's fed, diapered, burped bathed and still doesn't want to sleep just cries. The binky doesn't even soothe her. And all I can think about is wanting to sleep.

Finally went down at 2am, and woke up at 5am. We've had our morning bottles and bath too. I'm hoping she goes down for a nap so I can shower and sleep too.

Om and Raj aren't too thrilled with her. They're used to toddlers.

Re:LeenaB

Bless you Leena!!
The joys of babyhood!!!!
Sorry but I had to chuckle when you said Raj and Om aren't pleased with her!!
Once she settles in I am sure they will be in love with her!!
My children were never good sleepers. My son was up 3-4 times a night until he was 18 months old! (and my daughter was born when he was 15 months old - then they were BOTH getting up!!) But I just always looked at it as I probably spent more time with my children - BONDING TIME - than most people!!
Today they are 6 & 7 and I can honestly say we are bonded on a level I don't see very often b/t young children and their moms!

Think positive...who needs sleep?

Michelle

Much joy and love for you and your family. By any chance have you tried the hospital wrap that they use for the baby to make it seem as if she's still inside the womb that worked for us sometime.

You know what the say sleep when they're sleeping, one things for sure you'll be getting a goodnite sleep once she gets on a goodnite routine or when she turns 21 LoL

Congrats and thanks for the update

I tried to swaddle her, but she's a kicker. Likes to wrestle her way out of a wrap. But today is going much much better, LOL, she's sleeping. The boys just went down for their nap/rest. So all is quiet.

I realized she has to move to the down stairs nursery, because sleeping in the masterbedroom upstairs is just crazy. She's waking up the boys at night, part of the reason they're not please with her. I think I'd rather run downstairs when I hear her on a monitor than have to carry her down when she cries. How have others done this???? am I making any sense?

Before you do that, check your licensing standards. Some states require an adult sleeping on the same level as young children. Have you tried a swing or vibrating seat?

I found the key to the "burrito wrap" (as we like to call it) is to get a big enough semi-stretchy blanket and wrap pretty tight. Those big fleece blankets work great, but the thermal kind are usually too small. They all like to squirm and wiggle at first, but I've seen very few kids it doesn't work on and I've been a mom/baby nurse for 13 years now.

Happy napping!!!
