Question for those ultra savvy FB folks.

I think there is some monkey business going on and though I cannot go into detail I need some help and I know for sure there are some daggone smart folks here for sure.
SO my issue is this. On FB, is there a place (like there is here that says when the last log in was) is there anything like that on FB?
I know that the post's themselves are time stamped but is there another place where a friend could see when last log in was?
I dont know why it's important for sure yet but I think in the near future knowing that will be very important.

Also same situation new question
If a person is using a smart phone to sayyyyy make a FB page and do some things....would that be trackable through the persons server? (verizon, sprint, metro)

The answers to these questions will bring some things very clear to my FD's case and I am trying SO hard to find the truth...I just need to gather a little more info now.
Thanks to any and all who may have some help for me!

There is no "last log in" date/time on facebook. BUT I can log into my own cell account and track when all members of my family (on our account) used their phones to access the internet (and specific web pages) BUT it would not tell me what account they are signing in to.

But if law enforcement got that same phone (phone in question) would the phone records/server show what that phone was doing on line? I know they will show calls (ours will show calls to and from but will not show who text's are to or from...just the number texted)

My account shows all that information (texts to and from, but not content) and web sites accessed. So I assume that it could be accessed ... but? Not 100% sure.

Call law enforcement and ask. They might be able to get you the information you need.

Jensboys, so you are saying that you're logging into your online account, and it has a record of what the phone has done, correct?

So if someone erased the history on the phone itself, the info would still be on the "master" account online.

I think you need to watch the show "Person of Interest." Yes, if the judge ordered so, Facebook would turn over all details on a user account. This has come to light in recent history with those bullying deaths and others.

Now, as far as I know, no individual can necessarily see that you logged in at a given time, but if you have chat enabled, you can see if someone is signed on to FB at that moment. That is really kind of misleading though because if you are using a smartphone, at least mine, always shows you logged in.

I'd be very careful doing your own investigating though. One other thing, keep in mind, Internet based data is governed by the Fed. As of today, unless something has changed, this data is not inherently admissible in county/state courts. Meaning, unless your city/county/state passes specific laws, the data cannot be used against the person at a criminal level unless it is the Fed going after them.

That isn't to say that a judge in family court can't use such evidence at their discretion, I think they have more leverage in those matters than criminal.

Many of our laws haven't caught up with the internet.

If you have a specific item in mind, call your local police. They should know if there is something illegal.

Trying not to give much info due to the high profile nature of this particular situation.
I am trying to find out some info on "IF" my FD is getting onto a FB. Thats it. I just want to know "IF" it's her or if she is being totally set up and tossed under a rolling semi!
I think that she is likely going under that semi and what I find out I will share with the CW involved. I'm not trying to get into accounts or anything but was wondering if law enforcement could pull that up as a means of either "clearing" or "confirming" my FD's situation.
I do thank you all for your input and to Alys, yes though history can be cleared from the phone, if I go to my verizon or sprint or who ever my carrier is...it will show what phone on our plan is making what calls. It actually will give a statement for each number on our plan.
What I dont/didnt know is if it will track on line stuff as well.
Like my phone would say I called my mom 2 times today but if I had a smart phone would it show that I came to a.com 4 times today? THAT is the million dollar question for me. Not that I can do anything with it but wondered because I was thinking that law enforcement might be able to look into that...

Do you think she is doing it on a smart phone or computer? If it is home computer that you own, you can put a keystroker program on there and she'd never know. In fact, some smart parents created one that is a jump drive. Just plug it in and it stealthly installs the software and starts working. I dont recall the name but can google if you need.

My phone (HTC EVO from Sprint) does record the history. It is kind of hard to find, although, not so hard to remove. Since the memory on a smartphone is different than that on a computer, once it is gone, it is gone. But, I am still pretty confident that the ISP (in my case, Sprint) still records that data. They have various reasons for doing so. But, again, it will take a court order to get it released. But, if it is a phone on your own account, they might be able to get that info for you.

FB has a strict policy about using your actual name. If you suspect that someone has created a page erroneously for say Beyonce's daughter, Blue Ivy, and that she is A) underage and B) unable to type and therefore can't have done it herself, you can report it to FB and they will force whoever created that account to prove they are indeed who they say they are.

FB is for 13 and up. Didn't check to see what the age of FD is, but Blue Ivy can't have a FB page for another 12 plus years .

Search on mobile forensics tools and you can find lots of tools (some are free/free demo) that will get you forensic details from a phone. Keep in mind you can only legally do this on phones that are yours. If your kids connect to your network (wireless, not 3g) at your house, you COULD possibly use the corporate data use laws which state that using a personal device on a company network subjects it to search. If someone was to go after you directly. The more likely scenario is that the evidence would be thrown out.

One other quick thing.

On smart phones there would be two ways to connect to something like FB. One would be through the Browser ("internet" on android, safari on iphone/ipad). The other would be through the FB "app."

If someone is using the app, there is a setting on Android for example for background data transfer. So, you will get notices that someone has posted something on your wall, etc. Meaning it's "on" all the time, connected to FB all the time, even while you are sleeping.

My FB account is set up so that if I log in from my Blackberry, I get a text message stating that I logged in from that device. It's also set up to send me a text when I log in from my home computer. And if I log in anywhere else that isn't on my "list" I get a text message saying that there was a log in, what time it was, and that it was from an unidentified location/device. But it only does that because I set my account up that way. I'm not sure that would work in your situation.

Log into the account. Go to account settings. Click the tab for active sessions and it will give you the city, ip address and type of device used. Should be everything you need. then click the tab that says recognized devices and it will give the time and date of all the different devices used to log into the account.

Also to prevent someone from hacking into an account, you can enable login notifications to get an email every time someones logs into the account (time stamp and IP address are recorded). You can also click login approvals which means that every time someone attempts to log in from an unrecognized device they also have to enter a security code in addition to the password.
