Good-byes can be good.

On Feb 24, 2010 at 11:00pm I got a call for a 14 month old girl. On Feb 25, 2010 at 12:30am she was put in my arms. She was scared until she saw my dog, then she was like she belonged here. Her mom was MIA for 2 months and then showed up for her first visit. When I met mom I was shocked. She looked terrible. Have you ever seen those posters of Meth and the person looks sick, well that was her. My first thought was, poor baby is never going home. Well tomorrow Feb 23, 2012, few days short of a year, she is going home with her mom. Mom looks amazing and is doing so well. She looks totally different she is actually beautiful. She has been clean and has made amazing progress. She still has a long road ahead, but I know she is strong enough to do it. Even though I am sad to see Curly go, I am so happy that her mom was able to make changes in her life so she can have her dd back. She is so happy to have her baby girl back and I am very happy for her.

Thank you so much for posting this. This is how I hope any babies we are placed with turn out. I really just want to be a helping family and a safe place for baby until family can get it together enough to parent. I know it will be hard to let them go, but I hope I can have the same feelings that you have expressed here.
Yay for Curly's mom!!

You said 2010 in your post, I think you meant 2011?

I hope bio mom keeps it up. These are the stories that we look forward to as foster parents. Fingers crossed for Curly.

I remember when I had little "C". She was almost 5 years old when she came to my house. Her parents did everything on their caseplan, visited every week, worked really hard. At the six month court date, they were reunified. And although I was sad to see her go, (she was a wonderful little girl), I was so happy for her parents. They really did deserve to have her back.
