Update and question about license change.
We were placed with a 14 yr old FD last week. Nice kid. CW that placed her is same one who placed our little baby FS so she knows us.
Little FS is going home this week I knew it was coming, CW told me and has been very good about updating me. So happy for his mom and I totally support his RU but of course after having him for his entire life I'm so sad to see him go. I am sending everything that fits and have been getting next size stuff to send too. Will start writing an info packet for mom, if she wants to read she can, if not, thats ok too.So the CW that placed him and our new FD has 2 babies that she is hot on the case to get to me. These girls have to go into concurrent home due to age and situation and they were placed last week into a non concurrent home. We have declared we will be concurrent but this CW says it has to be on the license and it's not. I'm thinking that this goes back to our PRIDE classes when they said if you are an adoptive home you do an extra packet and pay $500 The class was exactly the same for both foster and adoptive parents so would we simply have to fill out that packet and pay the fees to become "concurrent" We are in CA so if you know anything about that it would be great. I do have a call in to our licensing CW but she is not in our town all the time, supervisor said she would get with CW and let me know what we need to do. We are totally willing to re-take PRIDE classes if we have to, they were fun (time consuming) but fun. I'm one of those that needs to be very busy when my heart is hurting so I actually do hope that these little ones can come to soften the blow from losing our little guy....boy is that gonna be hard and hurt! Ok thats us for now...

I am sorry I am not sure about the concurrent issue. Our agency has everyone dual licensed for foster and addison because so many people who foster ended up keeping some of them. We didn't have to pay for any our classes...to me that is a general question can't someone else at the office answer it for you? The front lady at ours knows a lot she handles the paperwork. Good luck I am sad that you have to let go of your little one. Hopefully your hands will be full again soon! Does concurrent mean that you would be willing to adopt? Or just keep them til ru or adoption?

Yeah concurrent means you are willing to either adopt or go guardianship or permanent placement. Here they always want babies placed in concurrent homes which is funny because she was ok placing baby right out of hospital to us but I'm guessing they are kinda cracking down on that now vs 8 months ago.
I dont mind the fee's, honestly, even though we did enjoy our PRIDE classes I would probably rather spend the money and fill out the packet vs doing 6 or 8 wks of classes with kids in the home. But we will do what we have to do.

You are considered a concurrent family. The county that you live in charges $500 per adoption to county foster adopt parents. Your agency covers the charge because the county pays them a large fee for the adoption.

I wonder if that means they expect me to adopt my current fosters? Hmmmm told me it would take months to see if grandparents are approved.

It would make sense unless you were very specific that you were ONLY an ER home that you would be concurrent.
For us, I've been honest that for an infant we would absolutely consider adoption but for older kids it would really depend on the child and the fit as we went into this to foster not just to adopt. I'll let you know what our LW has to say about it. I wish I had her other county number. She's from a big county while ours is small. Thanks for that info ![]()

Can you look up the number for the other county on the state dhs page? I know that I can find the main number for any county and for several of them each branch on the website.
Good luck.

Finding a number for my county does no good because I know the LW. She is in the next county over and an hour away. The supervisor here in our county was going to send LW an email.
We are a small county so we are dependant on the next county over for training and such. CW is not placing babies with us due to us not being considered concurrent. Thats ok, we will do what we need to to figure it out. I'll call again tomorrow to find out what we have to do. CW is positive there is additional training for concurrent homes but I'm sure that those who were training for foster and for adoption (I'm guessing that would be considered concurrent since it's permanent?!) the training was the same class, they just did an extra packet and paid money. Today was NUTS! First talked to the CW about the babies and that was pending her talking to her supervisor. Then later a call for a little girl being disrupted that has big issues, told CW we might be getting babies and we would let her know. Then about 30 min after that another call from "that" CW asking if we would take a disrupting little boy (this disruption was medicaly related to the foster family and not because of him) We said yes as they were very intent on getting this child back to our county. Sounds pretty straight forward. Will let you know tomorrow when he gets here.

Update
So I talked with our LW on Thursday. She said I have to talk with our State LW out of Fresno and work with her.
She didnt tell me if I have to do anything, if I have to change anything but I'm guessing I do if I'm being put in contact with the state LW. I'm just hoping it's filling out the adoption packet and then paying the fee's. I'm a little bummed since we dont even have a perspective child in mind. I would think it would make way more sense to get the child, then if it comes to TPR you can move forward with adoption packets, we all know we will clear the prints and back ground checks so I dont see why we couldnt do it "IF" we meet another forever child! Oh well, if getting placed with the age group we want means we do it now then we do it now. I will let you know when I talk to her (hoping that can be tuesday so we can move forward) Thanks everyone.
