Someone explain the process!
We are currently fostering in Alberta, Canada. Our foster daughter's worker has a permanent guardianship application in which the parents are contesting and trial is set for October. Can someone explain what the process looks like after a permanent guardianship order is granted (parents are currently unable to be located and there is no other family). Do they have someone waiting to take her right after trial or does she sit with us waiting for her file to be transferred to an adoption worker and for them to figure out all the red tape? We are hoping to adopt if things work out the way they are looking but the cw gave some weird info yesterday regarding permanent placements and I'm wondering at what point in the process I need to be seriously advocating for her to stay here instead of moving to a different adoptive home and if there is anything I can be doing before October do they consider us. Thanks!

Not sure how Canada works...but Guardianship (even permanent) does not take away parental rights and free a child up for adoption in any of the states (in the US) that I am familiar with.

I think Canada is different. Kids are allowed 18 months in care max (15 if they are under 6) and then are up for adoption
