Photo listing question

If you inquire on a child and then send in your home study is following up a good or bad idea? I submitted my home study to a sib group in state and their status recent.y went to hold while they review home studies. I've inquired on so many kids and have gotten nowhere I don't really expect to hear anything back for the most part but every once in a while I feel like I like my family is a really good match and I want to "hold out" for that particular group. I think way back when I first joined these boards I heard it was taboo to email the workers and you should wait for them to contact you, however in theory I'd think it would be a good idea to confirm interest and put yourself at the top of their mind. Thoughts? Funny I've stayed awAy from the photo listings since ive had teddy, now that he's leaving I find myself getting drawn back to them. Maybe I'll get another foster placement soon so I can just relax and wait for everything to happen the way it's supposed to

My agency contacts them directly and then submits my HS. I have found many times they have to put them on the listings, even with the foster family intends to adopt, which is the reason they don't even bother getting back to you.

If you do it on your own, it can't hurt. Even if you aren't selected for that group, it might put you in their memory bank for future kids. At least that is what I tell myself when I don't hear back.

Sorta off topic but . . . Not sure how long it has been active, but AdoptUsKids now has a place you can sign up and add YOUR profile too. I put ours on last week and have already gotten contacted by a placement rep from our state. I was previously listed with our state adoption registry and got absolutely no feed back. Looks like people are paying more attention to the AdoptUsKids page. If you haven't already, go register!

I used to practically stalk the photo listing sites when we got started and were looking for a placement!!! I think I went on daily at first. I even submitted my homestudy for a child, only to find out that the child was actually a sibiling group that was listed wrong, and the older kids were out of my age range. It's funny, but I stopped looking when we got the Littles and Squirt, and I didn't even know I had. I just kinda stopped. It is so rotten that they don't at least send a email to say you weren't selected.

Of topic, but...did any of you find one that you aren't a good fit for, but that you wonder about every time the photo listings are brought up? There is one little girl, still on there, who haunts me...She is too old for my family, but something about her makes me think of her once in a while.

our agency says don't

every other social worker in the state we've talked to, says DO, that they view that as genuine interest instead of tossing out the home study to see what sticks

Well, I decided to email sw anyways! She wrote back saying she recieved everything I wanted and that day she had asked my worker for an additional document. So they are at least considering us!They probably have a lot of people in the mix so I doubt they will pick us (how's that for faith? lol) just because I feel like having 3 kids already puts us at a big disadvantage. But who knows? Won't match til March so we have to wait and see .I'm just excited they are even considering us!
