Adoption Tax Credit?

Has anyone filed yet this year? I am wondering how many months it will all take this time...hoping they are a bit quicker!!

Ours are done, getting ready to mail off. We'll see how long it takes. The IRS "official statement" on the website is stating a 3 week turn around time, but I just don't believe it given last year's issues, so we'll see. I am expecting July or August, then if I get it earlier, I will be pleasantly surprised.

Mine's been in the mail for over a week now. I did see the 3 week notice that the IRS put up but I simply can't believe that. I've never had them do 3 weeks on my normal return so I think that is wishful thinking on their part. I gernerally triple whatever the government says... so I'm hoping for 9 weeks or a little over 2 months. :-)

I mailed about 2 weeks ago, so was probably one of the first sent off, I'll be sure to post as soon as it arrives.

I would guess it'd be faster than last year because last year included a lot more people than just the people who finalized in 2010. But 3 weeks sounds like dreaming, especially since the IRS is telling those of us with regular returns that ours is being delayed a week. Seems that this is a pervasive thing this year as it has been talked about in the teacher's lounges and other such places.

Anyway, so we wait. I'm just hoping, whether it takes 3 or 6 or 12 weeks, that they extend the refund for 2012

I mailed mine this morning. I have a feeling ours will be delayed...we owe back taxes to the IRS from a few years ago, and we claimed a foster child we had 8m (and I'm sure that his birthmom will also claim him since he's home now). So I think we'll trigger an audit. To me it wasn't worth filing and amending though. Easier to just file and wait for my family.

Last year it took 4 months...I am hoping for less than 3 this year. Wishful thinking maybe.

I mailed mine 2 weeks ago and it is still not showing up on the IRS "where's my refund" website, so I am finding that 3 week turn around time hard to believe, but would be grateful if it turns out to be true. I sent my return priority mail so I know they received it two weeks ago, today, I check that website everyday and am starting to have some PTSD from last year!!!

We are doing ours this weekend and getting it mailed off. I have dotted all the I's and crossed all the T's. Hoping it doesn't take as long as the people last year had to wait.

Last year it took me till june to get my refund back. This year I took no chances. I efiled my regular return. When that comes in this week I will then ammend my taxes for the adoption credit. I will be sure to keep checking back here to see if that 3 week thing is true, but I have my doubts. I was told by someone at H&R block that they will be pulling them all again to make sure fraud isnt going on. She said that last year there were thousands of people claiming the credit that did not even adopt!!!!!!

anzalone-did you send yours regular mail. we mailed ours priority mail so that I could track it, according to them it arrived at the correct zip code destination, it doesn't actually tell you the address, just the zip code. It has been two weeks today and it still is not showing up on WMR and I am worried that it is lost. we mailed on January 18.

I don't think this true for this year. I know the IRS has stated they are working on getting returns done quicker than even last year. My son's taxes were scheduled to be DD on Feb 6th (Monday). I thought it odd since they always do DD later in the week (traditionally been Friday for us). His refund was actually available in his bank on Saturday Feb 3rd. (He e-filed only the Sunday before, so less than a week for him to get refund back. Obviously, no ATC for him though.)
