Oh my- the meds (vent)!

My FSs went to respite on Friday (completely healthy, btw). When they were dropped off tonight they had SIX different antiobiotics between the 2 of them!

The little one developed a fever on Friday. He was given THREE antiobiotics. The older one has an infected boil on his bottom. He has two presciptions, plus a Rx for an occasional cough.

I am astounded. A 2 year old has a fever for 3 hours and a doc gives him THREE Rx meds? His fever was gone the next day.

This seems so excessive to me. My son's Pedi ( not the same pedi as my FSs) has never given him this many Rxs. The only time he has been given antibiotics is for an ear infection.

Of course I will give the kids the meds their pedi prescribed, but I am upset that I need to give these kids so many antiobiotics. It seems unwarranted (except for the 2 for the boil).

I think I need to change their pediatrician.

Oh, and the older boy has identical bruises on both his inner thighs, which I notified the CW of as soon as I changed his diaper and saw them. Who knows how he got them, but they were concerning.

All this within 36 hours!!!

Wow! Wow...just wow! I am so grateful that we could choose the pedi for our lil guy...used the same as my sons...that IS excessive! And, the bruises seem odd...I wonder...a teeter totter, maybe? Strange...

That is beyond excessive. I would be pretty peeved if it were me. At least the fever is gone.

My kids get those marks when they play rough on things like rocking horses, glider swings, and anything else they have to grip with their thighs. I bet if you ask where they went they will saysomething like that.

That is a LOT of medicine though, I would be upset too.

thats ridiculous! Unless they have some huge issue like a PICC or a Port, ect. I cant see why 3 abx would be needed. We avoid abx at all costs!
