What happens if you give your 30 days notice and

they can't find a family for the child to go to? What happens if it has been 30 days and there has been no family identified and no transition started?

Would you request the child be moved anyway, or offer to keep the child longer?

My two week notice turned into almost 45 days. In our situation, they just kind of ignored me once it got to the two week mark, then promised it would be another week, then another couple of days ect. I really had to put my foot down before they moved them.

Once, when we had sibs removed to a tratment facility and we refusd to take them back, no other family would take them either. They were taken to a children's shelter. Their behaviors were so incredibly dangerous that they could not stay in a family home.

There are sometimes options available that are for when there just are no other choices.

OMG, I didn't realize that asking a child to be removed can take longer than just the 30 days... we have asked for our Fd to be removed. we can no longer deal with her behavior and her hurting out pets... The cw has asked if we would reconsider and I told her no. She also told us that she will be looking for a PP but that we should consider repsite first.... I believe they are pulling our legs to see if we would rethink our decision... She has be removed from other Foster homes because of these same issues... THANKS FOR THE INFO... We might have to put our foot down if they absolutely ignore our decision...

You really have to be firm, and stay on them. I accepted an emergency placement last summer and told them they'd need to find a place for her, but she could stay a couple days or a week or something.
Well, that turned into almost 2 months. At about 5 weeks, I started making demands and stopped being nice. I thought I was doing them a favor by saying that it wasn't urgent she be moved right away, but she definitely couldn't stay long term.
Don't be nice. Stand your ground. They will find another home for the child, even if they have to go out of county.

Now, when I accept emergency placements that I know can't stay longer term, I email them the minute we walk in the door (even if it's midnight or 1am, lol), give them all the specifics that I have, and tell them the child needs to be moved that next day. That is what I've learned -- be demanding early on. Haha.

Yes, it can take longer than 30 days. We are our FS's 2nd placement...he's an adorable 11mo. The FFM asked for him to be moved in 30 days it took 7 weeks for them to find him another home.
