We were fp's when we lived in WA; we never ended up with an adoptive placement.
When we moved to CO. we knew we did not want to foster; we wanted to adopt. We did foster/adopt. We took a handful of er placements that lasted no longer than 2 weeks; our one and only long term placement was our son. |

I have been VERY blessed because my first 2 placements have turned into adoptions and my 3rd placement is looking like it may also be adoption! We have only had our license for 2 years. We can't have children of our own so we felt this would be the way for us to be parents even if it was only temporary.

We adopted our little boy who is almost 2 now, and are hoping to matched soon with another 17-month-old medically fragile little boy. If we are chosen for little J, it will quickly go to adoption. He not quite legally free, but close. (TPR next month.)

We've had 4 kids, and adopted two of them (final last month!!). We would have gladly given guardianship to the older one and adopted the younger one, but the state decided differently.

I did respite care five years ago this coming Thanksgiving for a 3-month-old that everyone thought I might be able to adopt, but that didn't pan out.
My son was my first fost/adopt placement. I adopted him 19 months and 2 days after he came home as a 5-day-old baby. I fostered a newborn, I picked up from the hospital, and she ended up being moved at 3 months to a relative placement. My second fost/adopt placement moved to a relative placement after being in my home for almost 8 months. My third fost/adopt placement became my legal daughter 15 1/2 months after coming home. |
