subsidy

I received a call today saying that my child will receive her full subsidy. Not sure what that means??? She is not special needs. She is only 2, and is not a minority. How could she get this?? I am not knocking it. It will be going into a savings account for her when she is older but it leaves me confused. Anyone that knows anything about subsidys and how they work or what is it exactly I would love to know more. When it was explained to me it was for special needs. It was only done to get us a step closer to the adoption. The worker said she would like to file for it and if they said no then we would just move on. Sorry if this is rambling and not making since. I am in a hurry writing this, i have to go out but thought I would ask the experts before I leave
thanks a lot.. anything would help me understand this.

Is she part of a sibling group? That would qualify her.

Part of a sibling group, Title IV eligble also qualifies them. Maybe ask the CW what qualified her?

In CA (or just my county?) all foster kids qualify under "adverse parenting."

No siblings. Just her. I'm guessing it is because bmom was on drugs while pregnant. But my dd was not born adicted. She was never put on anything to detox her. I dont know...

What all is the subsidy for. How does it work around tax time. Do I need to take proof of income and start paying taxes on it, or can I still claim her as a dependent. Not sure how this works. Thanks

The subsidy is tax free. You do not pay taxes on any of it. It is similar to the foster care stipend you get as a foster parent. And you do not claim it ad income on your tax return.

In our state the subsidy is just a check we receive to spend how we wish to meet the needs our of son. I'm assuming that's how it works everywhere.
