Informal Gender Poll
I'm curious about fostercare - fost/adopt and gender preference. When you set out to foster or fost/adopt, did you specify gender? If so, which one?
I'll start: no gender preference. sandysis |

We didn't specify with our first adoption. And we were matched with our son. This time, we have specified another boy because they'll share a room.

We specified a girl because we already have 2 boys.

I asked for a boy this time. I have twin girls, but am also open to any gender. As long as they need a home I have one.

We did not specify a specific gender, but just made it clear we would have children sharing rooms. So after the initial placement, the next gender would have to be the same as the first so that they could share a room.

BOYS! Girls are too much emotional drama and since we are adopting teens, that's just a kind of drama we're not equipped to handle :-)

On paper, we have no preferance. DH and R, want a boy though. I love both boys and girls. We've had both placed with us and A2, a little girl, had DH wrapped in record time.

At first (the first month or so) we had specified a girl, but then we decided to open it up to 1 boy and 1 girl. We were placed with 1 boy so we are currently waiting for 1 girl. We have a ton of girl stuff from dd so that is why we specified a girl at first.

either gender but since we are doing a sib group stated that we would prefer a mixed gender group but that it wouldn't stop us if the match was good if the children were all one gender. First match 2boys/1girl, Next match 2 girls/1boy. Now we have 4 boys/4girls. The children want a tie breaker. You can guess... the boys want to win and so do the girls! I said that our luck we would just end up with twins- one of each and be right back where we started! Haha.

No gender preference....want to eventually adopt two if I don't get placed with 2 the first time...however, if I have two, they would be sharing a room so whatever gender I get, the 2nd one will have to be the same.
My cw has been a little frustrated because there have been many sibling set of two's but they have been up to now boy/girl. Oh well we'll see what happens. I am more into outdoor activities that appeal to "boys" and love playing with the "boy" toys....(matchbox cars, legos, lincoln logs, buildy type of things) however, there is something special about mother/daughter relationships even if girls have high drama so to me it all balances out. I will get placed with the gender that will ultimately be the best for me ![]()

we specified one single girl aged 3-5. we got a boy girl sibling set of 8 and 9 year olds and a newborn boy. lol. then we chose to adopt another boy, and then someone's mom had another boy that we adopted as well. so....i never did "get what i wanted." or thought i wanted anyway. lol. so much for specifications, lol.

We are/were open to either. I love girls, DH wants boys. My boys have all been big ol babies, so I said lets stick to the girls who are tough and strong! LOL!
We will have 2 girls and one boy at the end of today, so at least the girls will rule the house for now! ![]()
