need to vent

Our kiddos have two visits a week. I'm so tired of my TWO days off from work being taken over by visits. We plan for them and half the time the are cancelled, the other half the time they are LATE. Today they picked the kids up 35 minutes late and now I sit and wait and wonder when they will return them! ugh. It's not like we get notice on this stuff, often they cancel after we've dressed them and are ready for them to go. SInce they take 2-3 hours to get over close to us, why do they not call sooner to let us know? Why is my Saturday spent sitting here waiting on them every weekend? ugh ugh ugh.

WOW...I'm so sorry you have to go through this. It's such a shame how sometimes we are so taken advantage of.

Here where I'm at...the bparents only have 15 minutes to "show" up....on the 16th minute, I'm allowed to leave. I don't know why there isn't a time limit on "lateness" . It would make EVERYONES visits much easier. After our fkids bmom missed 3 visits in a row with no advance notice...the agency told me to stay home unless they called me saying she had called saying she would be there for the visit. Sadly...she never did return. She went AWOL and to this day we still don't know where she is.

Hang in there, maybe after so many "missed" visits, they'll either cut them down, or stop them all together.

Good Luck

I see we're in the same state. It sounds like they are taking advantage of you. The CW should be doing this job. The CW should be picking them up and dropping them off. I'm in region 3 and have always been given the choice about when visits will happen and how the kids get there etc. Maybe you could talk with the cw about the missed and late visits and set up something else so you are not put in this position. You should not have to give up two days a week and wait around for the kids to get back. If the rules for the parents(I'm assuming that's who they visit) were tighter, and the CW had to deal with them, then the CW would be less likely to sit around waiting on people to show. You would know exactly when to have them ready and when they would be back home, so you can get on with things in the mean time.

Same state, and cps comes to daycare and take children back and forth to the visits. Now, they did give me the option to do the transporting and of course I gave them a firm NO.

I suggest you ask the cw to make other arrangements.
