Foster Care and Food Stamps Do You Get Them?

Hi, we have friends that are foster parents and their worker had them apply for food stamps to help with food bills for the children. Can foster parents apply for food stamps? I know you can get wic to help with babies. How many of you get food stamps?

Here you cannot receive welfare or foodstamps as a foster family. WIC is for the child only, which is why you can get it... it's for the child in your care, not you. I don't know if that makes sense. It might vary from state to state or even county to county.

We were asked to use wic. I am actually pretty grateful they (my extended fam) talked me into accepting it. As new parents the nutritional information they have offered has been nice.

Here, its based on your income, and the rehimbursement for foster care is included in your income. So we don't qualify.
10/08-5/09: A-8 , A-6 , & C-4 (my younger siblings) picked up by CPS. ICPC reccommended. Dependency established, ICPC started for A & A to live with my other siblings, and C to live with us-sent to OR. Homestudy, interview, and background check done. ICPC finally sent to WA.

6/19/09--C comes to live with us!

9/30/09-Permanency Planning Hearing: Plan changed to adoption primary.

1/14/10: Parents requested TPR trial, scheduled for 6/22-28, 2010. Gets rescheduled to 8/30-9/2/10.

2/3/10: Judge offically drops visits to once a month

8/30/10-10/7/10: Termination hearing starts. I testify on 31st. TPR granted.

11/6/10: Appeals ended. TPR permanent.

11/23/10: C told.

12/5/10: Case transferred to Adoption unit.

9/15/11: AFTER a VERY SLOW adoption worker, paperwork transferred to subsidy section. Subsidy approved, moved to lawyer.

11/1/11: ADOPTION FINALIZED. FINALLY, its going to be over!!!!!!!!!!!!
