Heart Blessings of being a foster parent

Just to encourage anyone having a bad day...
anyone wanting to give up on the system...

Its not all bad... granted there is a lot of bad, but there is some good.

I have 4 precious little ones. Very very few behavior or emotional problems. They came to me traumatized but with lots of love and structure they have become happy, well adjusted kids.

If I had a penny for every time I looked into the face of my beautiful children and had my heart stop because of the love I saw there, I would be a millionaire.

We had a family night and my newest son (6 mo now) looks at me and says "momma, you are the best momma EVER"!! He gives the best hugs!!!

My oldest son, (with me 1 yr) will often come home from school and say " I am so glad you are my mom"! He is a sweet adorable child, with a kind, kind, heart.

My daughter is loving school, she THRIVES on learning. She loves to read... "just like you, momma"! I am an absolute bookworm. She loves to cuddle up with me, cup of hot cocoa in her hand, coffee in mine and we read our books.

My other daughter loves staying home with me. She has become quite the little momma's girl. She loves to snuggle with me and look at books. She will often come up to me in the morning and no matter what my hair looks like, she will comment. "momma, I like your hair"!!

Its worth it... we are far from done. We have been waiting on the appeals for almost a year.
We are waiting on a tpr hearing for another.
Its those moments of fear that threaten to take my breath away. Moments when I have to stop, remind myself to breath, and pray for protection for my children. Then ENJOY EVERY SECOND, EVERY MOMENT of their childhood.

And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Oooo, I love stuff like this!

My FS has been with us for over a year now. Today my DH and my biodaughter went to visit his father, so I was able to stay home with just me and Lil Buddy. He woke up from his nap and I went in to his room. He pulled up on his crib and smiled the biggest smile when he saw me. He laughed and jumped and when I picked him up he laid his head on my shoulder and snuggled in. I can feel him relax in my arms.

His paternal family is working hard on their plan so he'll be able to go to them. They love him so much and they work with me to do the things he needs. They've bought a lot of things to work with his therapy whenever he goes home.

My caseworker is amazing and almost always calls me back the day I call her. Emails are returned very quickly and they are always watching out for us.

Our little foster guy has now been with us for five months. He could say only mamma and dadda when he came even though he was two. He has learned to walk the week before coming. He now walks, runs, climbs and climbs and did I mention climb..He is saying more and more words every day. Just last week another little boy at day care came over to hug me at drop off. Little guy came running up and yelled "That's my mama" all indignant that someone else would be hugging me. I was so shocked that he had said a clear four word sentence I had to ask the daycare worker if she had heard the same thing. She had. We were both so shocked. He also is starting to pick out letters, shapes and numbers if you ask him..All he needed was a little love and attention and opportunity. It just makes my heart smile to see how far he has come. And the other little things he picks up every day. It just makes me sad that his parents can not do what they need to for him. He is so loving..

I love this thread! Can't wait to read more!

My little guy came to me at 10 days and is now my son. He is an adorable, loving, happy 20 month old. He makes me laugh sooo many times throughout the day. He is just the most amazing gift. God blessed me when this child came into my life!
