TPR tomorrow, very nervous

Our fs bio parents have been MIA for over a year, they seem to have no interest except for when the SW finally is able to track them down, then they ask to see him and what they can do to get him back, they are told what to do and set up visits but that is as far as it goes, they never show and have never attended any hearings. Tomorrow rights will be terminated by default if they don't show up in court, if they do then it will be set for trial. I am apprehensive about what is going to happen, if it does go to trial we will have to testify. I don' want to hope that they don't show up, I don't want to hope that they fail, but I love our fs so much, he has been with us since he was 6 days old he is now almost 13 months and we are the only family he has EVER known. Has anyone ever had TPR by default, how does it work.

I didn't have TPR by default, but I did have TPR based off a previous involuntary TPR within the last 3 years. It was hard. I had the boys since they were 3 days old. 15 months later we were in front of the judge.

The only part of the plan the parents had remotely complied with was visits. They had spent a total of 67 hours with the boys. This included the 3 days in the hospital prior to them coming to me.

I feel for their loss - both the parent and the children. But I this is all part of God's plan and we need to let him be our driver.

Best wishes for tomorrow! Honestly, I wouldn't feel bad about hoping they don't show up - they clearly don't have any interest and it seems cruel to prolong it.

Our children were TPR'd via Default. It was because both parents were MIA for almost a year. We were told because TPR was by default, there would be NO CHANCE either bparent could appeal!

Good Luck!

Found out today that because TPR would be by default we won't know if they showed up at the courthouse until Monday, when some sort of docket is completed, so we wait until Monday to find out if they showed up, if they did it goes to trial, if not, TPR is done. Monday sure seems like a long time away!!!

We had TPR by default for our adopted daughter. She was 14months old at the time. Bmom had been MIA since she was 3months old. Bdad was in jail from birth to 11months, got out had 1 visit & tested dirty and disappeared. Neither showed up to the initial TPR hearing & the judge said enough! And ordered TPR by default. Best of luck!
