Selfish

Today is an all day visit day. I am going to be totally selfish. I mowed the lawn and washed the floors but for the rest of the day I am doing ME stuff. I am getting a pedicure, getting a yummy sandwich from the deli for lunch, watching Big Brother After Dark and taking a nap.

What do you guys do to treat yourselfs?

That's not selfish, that's BRILLIANT!! Self care is so incredibly important, especially when you're extending yourself to the state for the sake of the children.

My current escape has been playing Animal Crossing on my DS. I bought myself the DS for Christmas and haven't played much....until I got Animal Crossing. Totally addicting for me. I play for 15 minutes to an hour a day (either first thing in the morning when the kdis are getting ready, or last thing in the day when they are in bed). I'd still like an actual day away - but school is starting soon. No...I'm not counting (17 days) or anything. LOL!

I really like to browse thrift stores for unusual stuff. So when the kids are away, I head out to shop alone and in quiet. I may not necessarily buy anything, but just looking is fun too.

I love to go out to eat Its the only time I get to sit and really enjoy a meal. I then head to the bookstore and browse for hours. I also like to go to thrift stores. And if I am really ambitious...I nap

Not selfish....NECESSARY! "Me-time" keeps me sane! I read mystery novels, watch Judge Judy (why can't she preside over our cases?!?!), play on the computer, sleep, talk to friends on the phone without constant interruption, shop, the list goes on. I like the pedicure idea except a friend had a recent experience that has ruined pedicures for me FOREVER!

Clean! Okay, it is crazy ~ but I really enjoy cleaning...

But I REALLY enjoy getting the house clean and revelling in the fact that it will actually stay that way for five minutes while the kids are gone!

My bio son leaves tomorrow for an entire week, we are in the process of starting transition for a two year old,b but not till week after next... so I will have 7 days to enjoy a perfectly clean house. Geesh... I don't know what I iwll do!

selfish

I am a single mom so my "me time" is limited! But I try to go out for a night every 2 weeks or so. I used to feel bad that I left the kids with a babysitter. But honestly I am a better mom because of it.

My almost daily me time comes at night after the kids are in bed! A good book and a good soak in a jacuzzi does wonders to relief stress!
