Kidnapping threat what would you do
We are fp for two younger children since March. The case is currently in termination. Their younger sibling is also placed in fostercare. Yesterday I recieved a call from the other fosterparents that there has been a threat that the children are going to be kidnapped at a visit w/ their bio's. Their visits are supervised, but they often go to parks or other settings where I could see it happening. This has been reported to the CW, but I'm afraid nothing is going to be done. Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do? I realize that this could be hear say or a misunderstanding, but I want it investigated and am really nervous about sending the kids to their visits. What else can we do?
Thanks for you input! aandr |

Call your sw and talk it over with him/her. I'd want to know where the threat originated, was it heard by the worker or just the other fp, how seriously they are taking it, what I could do to minimize the risks. I'm sure I'd think of a few other things while I was there!
I'd also request all visits, for the time being, be held at the visit center. You know, where there are security measures in place........ I've only once had to ask a worker about something that I only suspected. She took it very seriously and our issue stopped immediately. Sws are overworked, but really, most of them do have our kids' safety in mind. |

I would also let your child's attorney (Law Guardian or Guardian ad Litem) know about this. They can get caseworkers moving when my voice isn't enough. Good luck!!

We had a similar threat and the cw took it very seriously. They alerted our local police dept. and asked for a watch to be put on our home.
I think at least they need to put some precautions in place for drop off and pick up. you just never know.
