Ok for those of you that don't know I have IDENTICAL Twin girls!!! I mean IDENTICAL, my mom can't tell them apart and they have been with we almost 2 years.
We were out this weekend with family and I dressed them in shirts that said "I LOVE MY TWIN SISTER!" and they had matching shorts and sandles on. And I had a woman come up to me and say How cute...I love they way you dressed them. ARE THEY TWINS? I kid you not I could have pulled my hair out. It drives me crazy at times. And to top my weekend off we had a family reunion and my uncle's wife was going around getting birthdays for a family calender. When she gets to me she says what's your birthday? I tell her, than she moves on. I than ask her don't you want the twins birthday? her answer is NO..I only want biological kids birthday!!!!!! Hello woman!!!!! I could not believe she said this. I have a cousin who is adopted, two of my cousins have adopted, and one of my uncles married a woman with kids and they are family. I am in the process of adopting!!!!! I ended up arguing with her, I couldn't believe her. So anyway I told her I would do the calendar, because we needed someone "biological" in the family to do it. My grandpa, bless his soul, told her I don't know what biological means, but if it means I have lots of love than I have lots of grandkids and great grandkids!!!! He's 87 and she could not say anything!!!! Some people! ![]() |

I agree with Caddo. I hope she doesn't put her birthday on since she's not 'biological'.

I have identical twin goddaughters. When they were little we would answer the "question" with "no they just have the same parents and birthday" When they got older we would answer " no this is a foreign exchange student from Peru" (they are blue-eyed blondes).
For the less than brilliant Aunt. Just remember we don't get to pick our family (just sometimes our kids). Next time you see your Grandpa - give him an extra kiss for me! His heart is in the right place! Maybe he could give lessons. |

I also have twins (bio) I would get so aggrivated when we would go out. People would always start with wow are they twins..yes they are...well I am glad it is you and not me...Yeah me too....then on to the remarks of double trouble...no to me it is a double blessing...and I am sure you know the conversations are almost always the same arghhhh....
My twins are now 16 and they still get the question of are you two twins??? they usually deny it LOL. And if you have to fill out papers that needs birth dates I have had people call me and say uhhh I think you made a mistake becasue you put the same birth date down for both of the boys...duhhhh..they are twins... |

I have cousins with the opposite problem. They are twins, and identical, but they have different birthdays because they were a bit before and a bit after midnight! They get weird questions all the time. It could have been even funnier - they were born on December 30th and 31st...a day later and they would have been born in different YEARS!! |

My 17 yo's are 5 months apart. When I scheduled their driver's exams, I had just given the man both of the kids birthdays (in 1991 and 1992). He responded with, "oh, are they twins?"

My girls are 5 months to the day a part, both born in the same calendar year, both from different biological families, one is quite dark complexioned the other is very pale complexioned, one is tall, one is short, and just in general they look NOTHING a like, yet everywhere we go it never fails that someone will ask me "Are they twins???".... My typical response now is "almost" and it usually keeps me from having to add any additional info, but it definitely drives me crazy too!

I have had 4 fc with me in a quad stroller and been asked if they are quads. Mind you, there was a 2 yo (CC) twin 1 yos (AA) and a newborn (CC). I said of course!!! Take a good look and then ask again.
My mom was in the hospital having surgery and I had 2 fc with me (both infants). One was a boy in blue and the other a girl in pink. Two months different in age, one with lots of dark hair and one bald as a q-ball. Someone asked if they were identical twins and my sister said yes. I bout busted a gut over that one because the person who asked the question believed her!!!!

Like Mystik, my 5 year olds are 5 months apart; one dark-complected; one light. We were buying matching shirts with the boys in the basket. Checker asked if we had twins. I said, "Yup, 5 months apart, by the miracle of modern medicine!" She totally believed me!!!!!!

my 5 yr olds are 2 mo apart in age, huge difference in size, both boys. My 3.5 and 4 yr old are girls. One sib set is petite, light AA, the other sib set is round faced chubbier, DARK AA.
Its almost a given that we will get asked if the kids are all twins?!!?! I rarely dress my girls alike... never liked to see that and it doubles the questions from people. When people ask me if they are twins, my standard repy is "no, the boys are 2 mo apart and the girls are 6 mo apart in age" and leave it at that!!! Most people are polite enough to not question further, altho you can see them trying to process that! The thing I hate the worst is during the summer many people in my community host fresh air kids. So everywhere I go people ask if they are my fresh air kids. Why would you just assume that because I am a CC woman with 4 AA kids that they are fresh ir kids!?!?!

I've never heard the term "fresh air kids". Does this mean kids that are outside a lot during the nice weather, thus having tans?

Yeah Grandpa! Does your aunt know other people in your family are adopted?
The first time I visited my ex-inlaws, they had two family portraits, one with the kids and grandma and one with the kids, their spouses, and grandma. I asked my ex about it and he said his parents wanted one that was just the Hannas. So I asked him then why his mother and grandma were in the just the Hannas picture? I told him your mom and grandma married into the Hanna family. He had no answer for me. |
