WE have registered for PRIDE classes starting August 4th. Will this be cancelled? Does this mean that no knew foster parents will be trained??? What a mess.

BLUEFLOWER - What area where you registered for PRIDE classes. So far, my classes have not been cancelled.

All Illinois PRIDE classes were canceled last Friday, but do not despair because with this new court decree in the mix maybe they won't be able to use DCFS as the sacrificial lamb anymore.

We are in the Central Region. I just checked the schedule on the website and it doesn't show any of them being canceled. Of course it could be that they just haven't update anything. I'm staying a bit pessimistic about the situation. We'll see if another call come in today saying the classes are still on.

I got a new letter today saying:

In compliance with the supplemental oder to enforce the consent decree in BH vs. Erwin McEwen, No. 88 C 5599, pleas continue to provide all programs and services that you provided in FY09, without any reduction or cancellation of these programs and services at this time.


I guess that means for now, we're all "safe" from any reductions??? In the enclosure, part 1 it included daycare . Hopefully, this will not be overturned and we can ALL breath a little better ESP. the kids!!!

Yeah, for now. It is an emergency court order, they have to go back to court somtime within 45 days so hopefully we will be safe. I am just worried that without any budget so many DHS services will be cut that it will effect us and "our children" anyway.

I gave our worker a call on Thursday, but it ended up being after they closed. Guess I'll have to wait to hear on Monday whether we have PRIDE class (1&2) starting on Saturday. I'm hoping it isn't canceled. At least if we get a few in, if they stop the classes, we can pick them back up later ... right?

Got a call on Tuesday that our class was on. We completed the first two today. So hoping this goes by quick and the state doesn't do something (even more) stupid. Too late for that, though, I think. Before spending more than you earn would have been a good place to have reconsidered what they were doing.

How is everyone else doing with this?
