biracial infant hair care - help please??

any tips or suggestions on the best products to use for our fd's beautiful hair. It's soft and curly, but the back is dry and gets a little nappy. Does anyone use anything special for br or aa infant hair?

For the toddlers we used a product called olive oil - it seemed to work pretty well. No ideas if it would work for an infant though.

It sounds like her hair is the same as my daughter's. I use leave-in conditioner and just use my fingers to work it in. I'm just using the baby kind right now and it does fine. HTH

I use something called 'Silken Child' from Sally's. it's in a pink pump bottle I brush it through, hand 'crunch' the hair and add a bow.

My daycare told me about a product called Soft and Precious. It's in some Wallgreen's. They have a spray that I like.

They also told me I could just use a little olive oil on her hair.

The thing you want to make sure is that her hair doesn't get dry. My hair is curly and that is one thing to watch for. We also don't need to shampoo our hair all the time since it can strip out moisture; it's OK to just rinse and condition sometimes.

You may also want to get a wide toothed comb because a brush can tend to make it get frizzier (which is what happens to my hair )

I use the Soft and Precious from Walgreens, although of the 5 walgreens within 5 miles of my house, only one of them carries it. They also have a shampoo and spray. I have all three and love them. You can also use baby oil. Sometimes I use both if my FD's hair is getting really dry.

my daughter's hair tends to be very dry and tightly curled, when she was about 2 I got some advice from an AA friend which was bed head moisture maniac shampoo and conditioner and then humectris conditioner as a leave in. I also use some Carol's Daughter's products for conditioning and spraying. I only wash once a week and add spray daily to help moisturize.

Without actually seeing the hair texture it is difficult to make strong, definite recommendations but I do natural hair and the best products are all natural products and shampoos that have no laurel sulfates in them. You can get them from natural product stores. Black Earth products are great and they have the best detangler I ever used. Remember to not shampoo more than twice a week, spray with a daily detangler/conditioner, and comb through. Wild growth hair oil, which is an outstanding all natural hair oil, is at most beauty supply stores including Sally's. A good shampoo ( w/o laurel sulfates) and conditioner, a good detangler, and a hair oil not too heavy should be all you need. There is a great website call nappturality.com that is all about AA hair and br hair. Hope this helps, if you need anymore specific info I'll be glad to help.

I love Carol's Daughter products! I use hair milk for my biracial dd and hair butter for my AA fd. They are expensive but completely natural and smell good. They are only available online.

thanks all for the advice - very much appreciated. I have long been intrigued by the Carol's Daughter products so made a special trip to Sephora last night and picked up the hair milk and the black vanilla hair souffle/deep hair conditioner. Love them both so I'll see how they work over time. Also will stop washing daily!
