Thumbs up My first placement Day 10

Thought I would do an up date on my new placement. I am amazed at the thing I have learned in the last 10 days.

First I talked to A'S therapist and described my new placement. I am a level #1 home the therapist told me she is definitely a level #2 child. Yes she will be assessed very soon appointment in 2 weeks or sooner if the get an opening.

Now here is the amazing part. After a few days of HELL and torment. This child obeys the rules 75 to 80% of the time. She has been put into time out 1 time in the last 5 days.

She comes home from school and starts her home work. Her teacher and I email daily as well as sending a log back and forth. Her teacher told me in a week at our home she has gone from doing basically no work to completing most of her work. Being less demanding in class, she has stopped going to the nurse everyday.

She spoke to her Grandmother the other night and told her she felt like she was the Queen of the house and she would not know her if she saw her. She has beautiful cloths her hair is shining. The only complaint was MY foster mom will not let me eat candy and drink soda and I have to eat vegetables and food I don't like .

My oldest child over heard her telling another child at school that she loves living at our house and she is the happiest she has ever been in her life.

I am just totally blown away

What a great story. Thanks for sharing. It's amazing what can happen with the right foster parent.

Well the soda and junk food probably wasn't helping her in any way. A little stability, routine and proper diet can go a long way. So happy it's working out for you, we are in the same situation (where the child should be in a higher level) but it's probably not going to work out in our situation.

That's awesome - great job!!! I can relate on the wonders of a proper diet.

My 4yo FS has been with us a little over 3 weeks and had the same complaint to his bio-mom about having to eat veggies (which apparently made us "weird"). But the other day when he was talking to her on the phone, she asked what she should bring him as a snack for their visit. FS said, "Apples, peaches, and oranges please." Oh, I was ever so proud!!!!! (BioMom replied, ".... you want,.... fruit??")

I am impressed with you ladies. I hope you continue to fare well with you children. When you have the right motives and a big heart you can accomplish big things.
