NoOne told me that...

baby germs can be so debilitating for adults. I am really congested, my ears are clogged and my bronchitis is flared. Muscles had the same thing, well, almost. Who knew a 16 pounds child could bring down a ??? pounds woman.

Muscles got really sick. Horrible congestion, coughing that was constant and an ear infection. It was scary. He had to have every 4 hrs breathing treatments, antibiotics and steriods. I began to hate alarm clocks. By Monday he was much better. The dr was pleased at the follow up visit. She changed the treatments to every 12 hrs. The downside of it was Monday night; he woke up EVERY single HOUR. As soon as I'd fall asleep, he would cry out again. I called the Dr first thing Tuesday and asked what could cause him to do that. She said that it was probaby because of all the albuterol breathing treatments. I guess she was right. We have slept very well last night.

I feel your pain.

For me it's the stress that knocks my immune system out, not necessarily the little one's germs.

Towards the end of one placement I actually ended up with a case of shingles!!! I was 26 and otherwise am nearly always healthy as a horse!!!!

It hurt so bad I wanted to hack my arm off.

Yes child germs are deadly for us adults!!!! Try and get some rest if you can. Especially us that have been away from small children for a long time.

Albuterol is the worst for making kids hyper. my little many does breathing treatments, when he was on albuterol there was NO sleep EVER....I asked the doc about this and they changed it over to xopenex. Medicaid wasnt going to approve it at first but they finally did..If not it is very expensive. almost 200 bucks!!!

I was ready to pay out of my own poket just so we coul all get some sleep!!!! I would ask the doc. if xopenex could help him as well as albuterol.

Good luck..been there done that...not fun

Kids germs are the worst! What I love is that they can have a little cold and get over it in a few days and then everyone else in the house gets it and it lasts for weeks.

In general, childhood diseases are really bad for adults, so if you haven't had the chicken pox vac, I highly recommend it. Even if the child has the vac, another child might not and bring it home to you later. I got them when I was 33 yrs old and 34 weeks pregnant. Not fun at all.

Meanwhile, I use hand sterilizer and everything else I can to avoid getting those kid germs, but it seems impossible when I am constantly hugging and kissing them.

It is horrible! We were watching a friends baby the other week, who come to find out after she gets to my house that she is horribly sick. Two days later my 2 1/2 yr old gets it. I'm trying to keep them all away from the other 2 babies, one being a newborn.
I then wake up with a horrible sore throat. Zicam it goes every 4 hrs. Thankfully that stuff works and after a slight sore throat for 2 days, the cold symptoms went away!

We too have never been so sick as when we have kiddos in the house!

OMGosh! I don't think I was ever so sick as when we got our children and they also attended day care!

I was the one that always got sick not my DH.

Now that I'm home full-time w our children, I think I have been sick 2x in the last year! Yay!

I've got the ickiness right now. They had a visit today but now they are at mom's house so caseworker or casa transports. I answered the door looking a fright said ignore how I look I'm sick. We loaded the kids up in the car and I got a 2 hour nap..ordered delivery pizza which I never do fed them and put kids to bed at 5:30 (they were exhausted anyway) and now at almost 6 pm they are all asleep and I'm off to sleep some more too.
I hate kid germs!!!

My DD uses xophenex for daily nebulizer treatments (I'm spelling it wrong) with pulmacourt as a steriod supplement. Mine was on Albuterol, but when I complained, Doc switched her to the Xophenex; it has been better. The doc says it's the "cadillac" and Albuteral the "pinto" of meds.

My DD and I have been sick on-and-off since October! Either she is sick, or I am, or we both are sick together. She brings it home frm day care. I bring it home from school. Then we pass to each other. I've completely moved out of my bedroom to her room so that at least one of us (my husband) isn't hacking all night. I get no sleep (ergo this post).
We've both been on anti-biotics twice since October. It's nuts. I've nick-named her "pharmacy" because the doc also has her on claritin and other stuff.

I hope you feel better.

Glad to read this thread! I have literally missed 19 days of school, I'm a teacher, this year due to them being sick, me being sick or having to go to court. This is rediculous! I am not a wimp and can push through lots of things, but not stomache bugs. All I ever hear is that I need to take a multi-vitamin, but I do! *sigh* Just needed to vent. Glad I'm not the only one going through this.

My litle guy just passed his cold to me- thanks for sharing, buddy!! There's not much rest, either, when you're single and the mom of a 15 month old-never-stops-moving baby! At least I have off this week and I'm going to send him to daycare tomorrow so I can rest (who am I kidding- I will probably clean and do the 5loads of laundry that need doing!). Maybe I'll sneak a nap in, though!

This is the 3rd sickness he's passed to me- not bad for 14 months together. But, I've been teaching 1st grade for 10 years and am used to little kid germs!

Hope you and your little guy are feeling better!
