Help- My foster child was kidnapped!

Hi-
I am new to this site and really need some help and prayers, too.
We have had our fost-adopt child for more than 18 months when he birth father was allowed to have an unsupervised visit with her. We already adopted her sister and we are the defacto parents for this toddler.
The kidnapping took place during a trial to terminate rights. Before the judge gave his decision, the father kidnapped his daughter and never returned.
I have not gotten any support from social workers, police and certainly not any of the national organizations that help parents find their children, because we are "just foster parents". My husband and I, with the help of family and friends have distributed fliers, organized search parties and have done everything possible to find her safely. We are paying for private investigators and a reward fund.

Do any of you out there have any support, resources, knowledge an attorney who specializes in this or any help you can give us. There must be other foster parents who have gone through what we are going through.
We just want to bring our little one home.

We appreciate you reading this and keeping good thoughts and prayers for our foster child.
Kate

Kate,
I am so sorry that you and your little one are going through this. I'm sorry that I don't have any information to give you but you have my heartfelt thoughts and prayers for a speedy return of your foster child.

What about sending out a flyer type post and pictures of them to all your myspace contacts asking them to send them out to all their myspace contacts. If you PM me, I will post it on my myspace as well.

Good luck. I hope she's found soon!

Just wondering what the state will say about the child's pictures being on flyers and the news. Are they supportive? Horrible situation, you are in my prayers.

OMG I cannot even begin to imagine what you are going through. What about those sites that are all over TV 1800 --the-missing? There must be a way for the state to help. I mean if the father did not have custody (the state did) wouldn't that be a crime? I wish I had better answers for you, but I will keep prayith that the little one is safe and can is returned.

Isn't the Dept. of Children's Services worried? Have they filed any type of official paperwork or called in the police? Technically the child is "theirs" until either RU or adoption.

Do they know biodad's last address?

I think this was probably unplanned and a horrible, last ditch effort. I feel sorry that this father must love his child but be unable to care for her. However, he will probably have to surface soon, at least to family or good friends. I mean, he won't have any of the supplies he needs plus, buying all of those things would be really expensive. My best bet is that he'll go to his mom or sisters (if he has any). On another note, he really messed up his chances for a legal RU.

I'm so sorry for your situation. Please keep us all updated and let us know if there is anything we can do.

wow. I'm soooo shocked you have no help. It happened in my area once...it was a supervised visit and the dad got in the car and drove off while the social worker was standing right there. An amber alert was issued immediately and all police were hunting for him. They treated it like it was a violent crime.

I hope things work out for you!

Hi-
Thanks for all your support and emails. The DA's office is handling the case and authorities were notified immediately, but it is not a priority because apparently there are lots of missing foster children.
Although the county is the legal guardian, we are the legal Defacto parents and already adopted her sister.

The DA submitted a photo for her missing picture, so I did not break confidentiality by saying her name or showing her photo and now it is public information.

If you do a google search for "missing Child Jade Flores" you will see her poster. PLEASE forward her poster to anyone. There is a group of people who help distribute fliers and if anyone wants to help, please let me know.
Thanks-
Kate

You have my heartfelt sympathies and prayers. Maybe/possibly if you stressed the de-facto parents more than foster child - you could get more assistance. It should not matter what the child's status is - a kidnap is a kidnap - and although a very, very large percentage of 'missing children' are with non-custodial parents - they are still MISSING and presumed kidnapped.

My bio-son has been missing for 20+ years - 'stranger abduction' is the term they use.

My heart is with you and the baby and prayers for safety are there too. God Bless!

I am so sorry to read this story. My heart goes out to you! We have many fears of the bio dad (and for awhile bio mom) trying to kidnap our children. They are also Hispanic, and it would be very easy for the bios to get across the border with the kids and hide with family in Mexico.

My prayers are with you and I hope your daughter is found!

Are there people looking for her outside of the US?

THERE ARE EIGHT DIFFERENT WAYS YOUR CHILD CAN DIE ON A CORDED WINDOW TREATMENT
Read "How Safe Cords Kill" at www.pfwbs.org

THREE CHILDREN HAVE STRANGLED TO DEATH SINCE ANGEL DIED ON 8/11/09.
Brandyn Coppedge died on 9/11/09. Rosie Smith died on 9/30/09 and Thapelo Kwofie died on 11/1/09. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is no longer recommending safety kits. They are now recommending that anywhere children live or visit should be free of corded window products.

I know this is a horrible situation, but this happened in July 2008. That seems a bit odd to me. The original post seems to be very recent.

I am sorry for your heartache, but it appears that the authorities ARE doing what they need to. The child is on several missing children sites. They issued a warrant for his arrest.

Please don't think I am bashing anyone. It just seems odd to me.
