All I want to do is take care of these kids...

And I feel like I am swimming upstream!! I am trying to get little K in head start and both of the boys enrolled in WIC and the agency acted like I was crazy when I called and asked for the custody order. Then I aked if I could just have SOMETHING saying that they were placed with me and they said I should already have that! I didn't get anything when the boys came except an info sheet about each of them! This is crazyness! All I want to do is help them!

I would bet that the 'info sheet' you got on each of the boys is actually a placement paper. That is all you need to get them WIC. The cw is right when saying that your should already have a placement paper showing they were placed with you. If you can't find it ask for a copy.

I was in the same boat with our 3. What I ended up doing was giving them what little I did have and then told them to contact the children's SW. There isn't an official paper that MN uses and sometimes that throws WIC, headstart etc for a loop. Best of luck.

We just get a little business size card that has our name, the child's name, and maybe a bday or medicaid number. Some places accept that as placement info, others don't. I often have to ask for another letter to use, especially at WIC.

The "info sheet" that they gave me still has the last foster parents names on it though. So even if that is the placement paper, they didn't bother to write one up for me.

My CW just wrote a letter on the agencies letterhead stating I was the foster parent. WIC accepted the letter.

Wow. The differences in what we get sure is interesting. I get a placement information sheet with each child, even sibling placements. The sheet includes their name, dob, gender, parents names & locations, reason why child(ren) is in care, who the dr is, any special needs, estimated length of stay, whether we got a clothing voucher, sibling names and what type of placement it is. Guess we are pretty lucky in my area.

ok, so the agency actually sent a placement paper to the head start office and they photo copied it when I was there yesterday for me. SO I should be ok when I go to wic now. Next time I will know to get that paperwork when the children are placed.

We have a stack of papers to sign when we get a child and we get copies of all of it. Medical consent, placement, agreement on discipline, etc.

our WIC office took our little business card. I wonder if that goes county by county. I did recieve in the mail today a placement paper our caseworker said it was a new rule all foster parents had to have it and to just file it away with our other papers.

We have been sent a brief letter from the FC's caseworker for each placement that was addressed to WIC and indicating the FC name and date of placement. So far, they are the only ones who have asked for proof of the placement. In each case, however, WIC just asked to see the letter, not to retain it in their files. I then carry that letter in my purse just in case I ever need any documentation. I figure it still shows they're placed with me even though it's addressed to WIC.

When you take them to the doctor's office, be sure to tell them you are not the guarantor of the medical bills. They ALWAYS try to set it up that way and seem so confused when I tell them not to. Even though we state we aren't guarantors on the initial patient forms when we bring them in the first time, they keep on sending us bills -- but I ignore them. Then, when I get their MA card several weeks later, I call the office to give them the account number. So far, we've not been sent to collections!
