adoption gift idea

My friend and neighbor's foster to adoption will be finalized on 2/9/09. We have been such a support for each other through this entire process. I want to get her a really special gift to celebrate the occassion. I was thinking of naming a star after her soon to be daughter. You can go to the International Star Registry. Do any of you have any other good suggestions?

That's a nice one. Or some sort of keepsake, like an engraved photo frame with the child's full l(new) legal name and date of adoption, where they can put their adoption day photo?

My son was finalized in December. He got an ornament for the tree that's a crystal heart. It has his full legal name, date of adoption, and the inscription "Adopted With Love"

You can ask to have the flag flown over your state capital in their honor for that day. You get the flag and a certificate stating for whom it was flown.

When my cousin was in Iraq, he had flags flown for each of his aunts & uncles for Christmas gifts.

It was suggested to me by my agency when I adopted.

I got my dear friend a necklace with a charm on it that had her son's new initials engraved on it.
