Talking Could we really be this LUCKY???

"G" just turned a year (here since birth). Case is TPR. Only issue is really the grandmother who has intervened. Our court date was suppose to be yesterday, but the attorney for the grandmother asked to have it postponed. So today we were suppose to have a visit with the grandmother. She was late so they called her (and I could here everything). She said "I can't make it to visits this week", and they asked if every thing was ok. She said it was. Then they asked if she would becoming to visits next week, and she said she was not sure she was waiting to talk to her attorney. Then she said..."they just want more and more money and they are saying if we go to trial it could take 6 more months and more money and then I still won't get her so I am thinking I may just give up! My Husband says I am spendingto much money and he is not going to pay any more!"
I don't want to get to excited about this because it may not happen, but oh my goodness that would be wonderful!!!
I just keep thinking after all of this can it all end up being this easy???
We are still going to intervene, because you never know. But for the first time in a year I feel so much peace!!
I am just praying this is part of God's plan and the answer to our prayers!!

Perhaps Grandpa realizes that it would be better for 'G' to remain where she is, with the only family she really knows. It could be that his mentioning it being too expensive for the attorney ishis way of telling grandma that it would be better. It may be that he can't find the words to tell her how he really feels.

Whatever the reason, it sounds a bit more like the grandparents are going to let her remain.

Would be be willing to have contact between her and them if you adopt?

I wish it was about grandpa caring about "G", but he has never seen her and is not related to her by blood. I think with him it really is about the money! Everyone was shocked he was footing the bill in the first place.
I am a little disappointed that grandma does not want to continue to see "G" until she offically can't have weekly visits any more, but maybe it is to hard for her knowing now she isn't going to get custody of her!
I do not dis-like the grandmother and would be will to keep in contact with her after adoption, but I am starting to think she may not want contact with us! That makes me sad for "G".

I understand the issue of money. We were in a contested adoption and it cost us 14,000 for a couple of months of service. It ended well and was SO worth it but I can see how if you are not contesting for the right reasons how spending the cash could possibly put an end to it fast. I laugh every time someone says that adoption through the foster system is free...maybe next time that will happen for us!

I have not found out anything yet about grandma withdrawing from the case, but I did get word yesterday that the Attorney for the grandmother had filed for a 6 month extension (not just a continuance that would have push things back a few weeks)! I am sure this is why grandma is upset and wanting out. Having to pay an attorney for 6 more months won't be cheap and she has already been at it a year. I am upset that this might drag on another 6 months, but if that is what it took for the grandma to let it go then I am ok with it!
Our attorney filed our papers yesterday so at least I feel better about that! I hope we know something solid about the grandmother next week!

update

Grandma did not call for visits this week. CW says she has to call if she wants a visit from now on and she will have to work with our schedules. She also said she does not think we will hear from her or that she will have any more visits. They really believe she has given up. We are all waiting to see if new hearing will be set in the near future! I am praying it is in the next few weeks and that they are able to go ahead with TPR!! I really don't want this to drag on and on for 6 more months!

Thanks to all of you for your support and sweet messages!
