Odd comment today

I was registering Bubba for a preschool thingy today and I was telling the registrar that his photo couldn't be taken because he's a foster, but I was in process of adopting him and it should be finalized within the next 6 months (I know...I'm an optimist).

From behind me I hear...

"How Angelina Jolie of you."

Um...what do you say to that? Thanks? UGH!

I would turn around, smile and say "Yeah, we look so much alike, we're often mistaken for each other" Or maybe "Oh, you have Biological Kids? How Julia Roberts of you"

That was a DUMB, ignorant comment and I'm hoping whoever it was thought it was funny and didn't mean to be offensive.

I agree with AmyAnne, it's ignorant and rather offensive if you think about it at all. But it's also, I must admit, rather funny.

I think I'd laugh that one off. She's smart, funny, beautiful, generous, and fabulously wealthy.
There are certainly worse people to be compared to.

I have been called way worst in my life than Angelina Jolie. I'm assuming it was meant to be funny but who knows. Knowing myself I would have turned around and said something right back. Probably would have said oh, you got that just from staring at my @@@ how kind of you. But ignoring it was probably the way to go. Amyanne I love your Julia Roberts comment I'm gonna store that one just in case.

That is really good. I'm going to have to use that!

ONE person said that to me & I was quick to respond (because I'm a single mom adopting) "I'm not sleeping w/ Brad Pitt & don't have 4 nannies - thanks for pointing out our similarities"

I would just laugh it off. It is a strange comment for someone to make that barely knows you though....even joking around. I have a good friend who, since I began the adoption process that would call and say "How's operation Jolie-Pitt going?" I found it hysterical & we always call it that now. Probably because we are so close. I think it is more of a jab at Angelina Jolie because she seems to be adopting another child every couple months! Like I said though, strange comment to say to someone you don't know well.

I think Angeline Jolie loves kids, just like we do. People who make idiotic comments are... well... idiots.

Even if it was meant to be a harmless joke, I think it was rude. The person doesn't know you, that makes it rude.

Its rude because you were having a private conversation about your child. She shouldn't be all up in your business...
I would have told her so.

I've gotten that comment before. It really annoys me, as if I have adopted my kids because it is trendy. I generally say something like, "Yes, I know, we look so similar and now our lives are just mirroring each other..."

What about "I know, she keeps copying me!"?

But yes, that was a crass and annoying comment, and none of her business.

LOL! The comment was stupid, but the comebacks suggested here are all so good I'd love to have the opportunity to use them!
