Fast Tracked babies
I know fast tracked babies are suppose to be a faster process but anyone have any info on it? I am clueless. They said my baby would be fast tracked if no elgible family members come forward and if the dad can't get her. We'll know on the dad fairly soon but how long will they give family to come forward? A few family members did come forward but were denied. I'm just curious how much longer others can come foward.
Any input is greatly appreciated! |

With my foster/adopt son, they accepted family & friend completed homestudies up until the 15 month mark (15 months in care). At the 15 month mark, the baby had to be in permanent home. Because it was too late for anyone else in bio family to complete a homestudy after the 15 month mark, I was considered that permanent home. They did allow birthmom's friends to request homestudies in addition to actual family members.

THERE ARE EIGHT DIFFERENT WAYS YOUR CHILD CAN DIE ON A CORDED WINDOW TREATMENT Read "How Safe Cords Kill" at www.pfwbs.org THREE CHILDREN HAVE STRANGLED TO DEATH SINCE ANGEL DIED ON 8/11/09. Brandyn Coppedge died on 9/11/09. Rosie Smith died on 9/30/09 and Thapelo Kwofie died on 11/1/09. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is no longer recommending safety kits. They are now recommending that anywhere children live or visit should be free of corded window products. |

We have very few fast-tracked children here, but when we do: at the 30 day hearing the birthparents are asked for names of possible family placements, if the birthparents show up; if the birthparents are not there then the county is instructed by the judge to do a search for relatives and have it completed by the next hearing which is usually 60 days later.
At the second hearing, unless there is compelling evidence for the birthparents to have a case plan, or if relatives come forward, they will schedule a TPR hearing in 60 days. The county has to prove their efforts to the judge about family members at this hearing and are again instructed to try and find an eligible familiy member by the next hearing. At the next hearing, if no relatives have been found eligible, then TPR will happen with the goal of adoption by non-relatives. Again, it is rare here for children to be fast-tracked, I have seen some TPR's done in as little as 4 months because of the nature of the case and information on the family already available, but most are 6 months out to give time for relative searches.
