Gift for the foster family of my new one?

We'd like to give some sort of a "thank you" gift to the foster family that has been taking care of our new little boy since he was born. The best I could come up with was some photos and perhaps a gift certificate. Any other ideas?

no ideas...but a funny story. our new one was cared for by his foster family for nearly 6 months. so i wanted to give them a gift too. i went the impersonal route bc i just really didn't know what they liked. so i gave them a gift card to target for 100 dollars. i handed her the card when i picked him up, and she told me thankyou...but did not open it . i left. about 5 minutes later, she called me and said thank you so much for the giftcard and that great minds think alike....she told me there was a card in his bag..i opened it...inside was $100. lol. she wanted to give us something to buy the baby something nice. lol....so in the end, we just traded money....but it was the thought that counted. lol.

I think the best thing I could ever receive would be a letter letting me know that I could rest assured knowing the child will be loved and cared for for the rest of his/her life.

There would be nothing better than that peace of mind.

Could you make some ornaments with the baby's picture on them?

My former fs adoptive parents gave me a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a robe and a lap-size comforter. They had also gotten a small stuffed bear that they had originally planned to give to him (among other things), but decided to give it to me. A few weeks later I got a wonderful announcement with a new picture of him saying that they had been blessed with a new baby boy.

Wow---just a letter saying, "thank you so much for all the love you've put into this child" would mean the world. Updates along the way would be even more special.

I've been lucky. We ended up being really close to my son's first foster parents---in fact, we're having dinner with them on Friday after they come to his Christmas concert at the daycare. :-) They're our closest friends now and just mean the world to us.

I'm close to one of my former fdaughter's soon-to-be adoptive moms, too. We got to know each other when she was fostering her first daughter. Now we joke that we must be sisters, 'cause I'm her kids' aunt.

Not everybody has to end up that close, of course, but knowing what happens down the line to the kids is such a huge reward.

Thanks, guys. We ended up giving the Ffamily a small album of photos that we took during the transition and a gift certificate. We also gave small stuffed animals to the other Fsiblings in the house. We are absolutely going to stay in touch and will remember to send them photos periodically.
