anyone else with unpredictable fp payments??

I've had my fs over a year now, and still there is no rhyme or reason to the timing of the monthly payments. I receive regular board payment plus a medical payment. Usually the board payment is sometime between the 10th and 20th; I haven't received an Oct. medical payment yet. After receiving siblings recently who came with practically nothing, I am at the bottom of the barrel, so to speak, of my finances. With Christmas fast approaching, it's kind of freaking me out. I have called & spoken to the woman in charge of disbursements, and I get "Oh I'll get to it one day next week". When I politely encourage her to do it asap, she gets argumentative with me about how I'm spending the money, didn't I fill out a Christmas wish list for the kids, etc, and actually called me Saturday morning and said she realized I had too much responsibility in trying to take care of these kids.(!!!!!!!!!!) She has really lit my fuse When I told my CW about it, she was furious, and immediately emailed the office supervisor, who fortunately took my side. This woman has a LONG track record of using payments as a sort of power tool. Anyway, I told her I would be driving to the office tomorrow (today now) to pick up the check, could she have it ready by noon......... the drive is 2 hours each direction. She kept making excuses, like she can never plan her day ( like she works in an emergency room or something). But the director told her she WILL have it ready today. I am SOOOO aggravated... this has really messed with my finances.... and she has been such a "b" with no excuse. I'm sure she would never find it acceptable to receive a partial check because DHR just didn't FEEL like paying her all of it this month!!!!!

The only problem I have ever had is not getting it on the same day each month. It usually comes between the 15th and 20th. I know how frusturating it can be. I usually dont count on that money untill it arives.

We in Missouri do not get enough money the way it is. the board payment is only 324 a month!!!! And that is for a 2 yr old and a 9 month old.

It infuriates me when people make the comment that people does it for the money that is just so silly that they sound stupid when they say it...

I couldnt do it without the payment, I spend way over the amount I get on the kids, and yes it really rubs me the wrong way when it is not on time. We work harder than all the case workers and I can guarantee you that if their check was late they would pitch a fit too..

I hope it all gets taken care of today...

I hope everything works out for you today..but it seems to me that if she has a track record of messing with payments, they would remove her from that area and put her somewhere else like clerical work or something...(I would say fire her but everyone needs to work...I guess)..people with attitudes shouldn't be handling the money for others...especially when they think they have "power" or something....

Check your state or your agency's foster parent bill of rights! There is usually something in there about the right to receive timely board payments! As well as a grievance procedure.

Our payments run like this... Got the placement 11/8, so the payment for November will be mailed out on the forth Thursday of December, and I should get it that Saturday...after Christmas

That's so low! I couldn't afford to be a fp if I lived in your state.

We get ours the first Saturday of each new month.

Our checks are disbursed by the county auditor and she has been stellar about getting them to us on time every month. Unless a CW forgets to submit the info stating that we provided care our payments have always been very predictable.

I would be livid and near spittin nails if anyone was treating me the way you described. How awful!

Our agency is very consistent, we always get paid on the 15th. The first few months were hard though. We had three placements in a one month period and they all came with nothing. It took a few months for us to "break even".

Now that we our new placements are home and have clothes, we actually have a bit extra to play with. We've been able to afford lots of extras for all the kids that we wouldn't have otherwise including a mother's helper to give me a hand with two little ones under a year old. I feel very blessed to live in a state that offers, what I consider, a generous reimbursement. I would honestly do this for free but the reimbursement makes life much easier.

Every two weeks and direct deposit...I am seriously jealous!

We are doing that gonna take awhile to break even stuff right now too! The kids we got in November came with almost nothing.

Our regular stipends are direct deposited on the last working day of every month, which is awesome! Reimbursements for expenses can be really erratic since they have to wait for a supervisor to sign them.

I get direct deposit on the 1st day of every month. For travel reimbursement (to visits or medical appts) I submit my request by the 15th and it is deposited by the 25th.

OMG! i'm not a fp yet so no checks yet, but i can't imagine anyone thinking that $324 for 2 kids is remotely close to fair!

In TN the usual payment for kids is a little over $20 a day for kids in my age range, up to $22 for a different age range (don't remember if it's older or younger). That's about $625 a month for one child, which still isn't enough frankly, but you're getting half that for TWO. i don't know how you manage. i sure hope your payments get worked out to be dependable for once. Gosh, in a lot of states if a divorced parent paid child support that erratically, they would be thrown in jail!

Our board pymt is about 400 a month with clothing allowance and personal allowance included in that amount. DH has joint custody of his DD they have a 40/60 visitation split so he pays about 600 a month is child support. He can only claim her every other year, because as he acknowledge that amount does not entirely support her (of course!).

What we manage to squeak by on...I can imagine less! Still envious of direct deposit (as my checks have been lost in the mail twice in the last couple of years and it takes a month to get a new one!).
