Wow! How interesting. I think the judge made the absolute right decision. I was also upset at the federation for making it harder for a foster child to be eligible to play. Interesting that the federation came back and said that they will be looking at their rules to see how they will work with this in the future. They will probably try to rewrite the rules to do the same type of thing.

The rule of Foster Children having to be filed as "hardship cases" really stinks! It's not the same as a teen deciding to live with an opposite bio parent, or an uncle. Foster kids have no say in where they live!

I hate that this kid was singled out like this. I hope the rule is changed so that the Foster Children are considered "a family of one" as one of the reports stated.

Sheesh! And this is SOOO not the same as 'speeding to work because you're late'!!! It's more like being allowed a closer parking space because you're in a wheelchair.

.

Well, the rule will have to be changed cause the judge struck it down.

This case made me FURIOUS!! I could not believe that the case was initially ruled the way that it was. Thank goodness it was overturned by a judge with some common sense. This has nothing to do with coaches recruiting from other schools, so the rule should never been applied. But to add insult to injury, the poor kid's name and photo were published on the front page of the SF Chronicle! What happened to a foster child's right to privacy?! He may not have wanted every single person he goes to school with to know all the details about his past.

Can you BELIEVE the other coaches, who put some stupid game above fairness and a child's welfare?

Seriously, if my son's football coach ever let such stupidity escape from his lips, I'd go over and smack him upside the head. What jerks.
