Am I ever going to get a call

Hello, my husband and I finally got are licence on November 12th and I did get one call , the day we got are licence for a placement a 5yr girl and her 4 yr old brother, but I had to turned it down for there were some things that I was not comfortable with anyway I have not gotten any other calls. I feel like screaming I am just so excited, it felt like the whole process drug and now that we were finally approved we are still waiting. Please keep us in your prayer that we soon get a call. ( I know it is a good thing that we aren't getting a call that means children are staying with there family) but I just can't wait. Thanks so much. How long did you all have to wait for your first placement, I live in PA.

I've heard that there is an increase in placements around the holidays, so I would be willing to say you probably won't be waiting much longer.

Hang in there!

The first placement we had our license for awhile and a newborn so we voluntarily waited, but when we got on the list it was about two weeks.

Number two was about a week.

The time between the second placement and our current placements (sib group of two) was six months.

So I've waited short times and what felt like forever. Sure it's great there didn't appear to be more kids in the system but it still was tough!

Hope your wait is over REALLY soon!

The first time around I waited about 8 months before my daughter was placed with me, she was 5 at the time and is now 16!!

This time around, I waited about 5 months and was placed with 9 & 11 year old sisters.

I'm single, so not sure if that's why the wait was longer.

I am in Pa too.... and I have had several calls come in one day other times it would go 2-3 weeks between calls.
I would call the Intake person at your agency and chat with them... jsut tell them you want to know how many calls they get, what is the average age... chat without being annoying, and put yourself in front of them... make yourself memorable in a good way of course!!! LOL

We had a call that we turned town back in October. We didn't get our next call until last week. I totally understand how hard it is to wait. At that point, we were waiting for our license. The license was signed the day after we decided to take our current placement. So, that was 8 months from the end of classes to license and placement.

Just wait! You'll definitely get the call on the one day that you have the flu, the car is in the shop, and your mother in law is on her way over. They'll wait until you're in the shower and then blam....that is when they call! :-)

( I don't know why, but I don't think I've EVER been fully dressed when they call me! )

We got the call while I was wrapping up things at work Tuesday for an extended weekend. I was planning to shampoo my carpets and bake a cheese cake on Wednesday since we were hosting Thanksgiving on Thursday. I was also scheduled to rehome our dog (diabetes insipidus) Wednesday morning.

So, the dog is now happy at a farm. Really! Not the proverbial farm. The carpets have yet to be shampooed. The guests were great and provided extra hands and side dishes for the meal. Cheese cake can be made another day.

I've been licensed since July and still don't have a placement. I recieved one call that every foster home in the state got, and of course we weren't chosen. We're up for relicensure, and wondering if we should even go through the trouble!

Hi

We had this conversation on another thread recently. I waited just under two months before I got my first placement. It was not my first call but the first one that I took.

I am currently waiting for a new placement and like some of you hoping that the call comes before Christmas.

Just stay focused and when that call comes everything happens very quickly.
