Lifebooks

What kind of lifebooks are you making for your foster children, the "old-fashion" scrapbook or a digital downloadable one? Can you recommend any sites or companies. I am not sure if you can post this info on the forum so I welcome your PMs.

Thanks!

I have done both kinds. I actually prefer to do a combination of the two. Using a computer program to print the photos onto the page eliminates the chance for individual pictures to be 'lost' by the family. You can then add stickers, etc to add that extra bit of personal touch to the pages.

That's a really good idea, to print out the whole page with pics on it, to prevent photos from getting "lost." I'm accepting my first placement in January, and need to get started on an album, soon.

I had no idea there were digital ones!

I've put together little photo slide shows but that's been about the extent of my attempt to keep that sort of stuff on the computer. Otherwise we just put together scrapbook style books to send along (thank goodness for an aunt and grandma that works for Creative Memories!)

If any of you could pm me with a digital scrapbooking site of sorts it would be much appreciated! I'd love to be keeping something similar for myself but don't have the time or resources to put together two scrapbook style books, digital would work out great!

I'm a digital scrapbooker, so if anyone has questions on scrapping, please feel free to pm me.

I do an old fashioned scrapbook for each of my kids. I think it's so meaningful for them, in terms of making sense of their lives and their memories. I don't do a "lifebook" per se---I think that focuses a little too much on tragedy. Instead, I work in pictures of their birthparents and social workers, etc. in the regular old pictures of our life.

ETA: My son LOVES his, and asks to look at pictures of his birthparents pretty often. He has not seen them since he was 18 months old.

I haven't had a child stay long enough for me to work on this, but i took a class online about it and it cost ten dollars. It counted for 3 hours of foster parent training as well.

I did a scrapbook for my first fd. Has anyone tried scanning a scrapbook and printing it out that way?

Can I ask you where you took the online course? I'd be interested in checking it out. Thx!

Foster Care and Adoptive Community

this is where I took the lifebook class. they have lots of other options as well. you can also print one copy of the material out and there are templates to make a lifebook included in the cost of this one. At the end you take a test for your certificate but it was easy. Especially if you scrapbook and understand the concept of a lifebook.they offer other classes as well at pretty reasonable prices. i like the option of online training.

I have no affiliation with this website other than a customer. My agency recommended it though, for training.
