TPR hearing continued...did someone mess up?

My FS has been with us for about a year. The TPR hearing is set for next week. I received a call saying it will probably be delayed (continued) because they are unable to serve the father. He has been MIA for most of my FS life (16 months). They are required to run an ad in the paper for 60 days! So, I am assuming the hearing will be continued for 2 more months! My FS parents only had 6 months of services. The rest of this time has been one delay after another. My questions: Did someone "mess up?" Where they suppose to run the notice in the paper the last 2 months before the hearing? Anyone else had this happen? Can the judge waive it since the BD hasn't been around for months and months? Thanks!

My fs's tpr hearing has now been rescheduled 6 times. For a variety of different reasons. Not really expecting the 6th time to actually happen either-- too close to mom's due date. After all this time and what I've seen, don't think getting tpr will actually be a problem once we do get to court, and that's what eases my mind.

Yes-it sounds like somebody messed up - but it is a GREAT thing they are correcting the mistake now instead of dad showing up years from now demanding the baby back.

Good luck & take it as a good sign they are following the law (they should be fromthe begining but what can you do)

Just a suggestion: When it runs, get copies of the paper and keep them. We ran the notices and later father tried to claim they had not appeared. We had physical proof to show to the judge. Not just a receipt that they were paid for, but the actual print notices.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I don't think this father will be back, but you never know. I will keep a copy of the paper. Thanks for that suggestion.
