Life lessons of a new foster parent

Life lessons of the day (well at least up until 7:30 am)

1. 4 year old girls can fill their beds with vomit.
2. 4 year old girls do not necessarily wake you when they fill their beds with vomit.
3. 4 year old girls think it is a great idea to just crawl into your bed and lay at your feet until your subconcious mind at 5 am starts saying what is that horrid puke smell?
4. It takes about 15 min. for your awake mind to respond to your subconsious mind saying what is that horrid puke smell?
5. Did I mention 4 year old girls can fill their entire bed with vomit?
6. It takes 3 wash cycles to get said vomit completly washed out of bed clothes, jammies, pillow and blankies.
7. Bright spot-remembering you borrowed mother in laws carpet shampooer and you still have it.
8. Not such a bright spot when you realize vomit that is projectiled across bedroom onto wall and ran down wall landing next to baseboard will NOT get cleaned up by said carpet shampooer.
9. Second bright spot realizing all the plastic gloves you have saved from coloring your hair that may come in handy one day did in fact finally come in handy.
10. And finally life lessoned learned (so far today) 4 year old girls shrillness factor when they scream bloody murder into your ear doubles when you make them take a shower to wash said (at this point) dried vomit out of their hair.
And the military commercials say they do more before 8 am than I do..ha
I hope your monday morning goes better than mine so far.

aww that sounds miserable, hopefully your day starts looking up soon. My 2yo had the pukies all day yesterday and I am crossing my fingers he keeps it all in today, so far so good...

Wouldn't it be great if we had a check list and once those things happened they wouldn't happen again? What a way to start the day. Luckily ours started at 7pm Saturday night. Hope the rest of your day goes well.

Kudos to you for your sense of humor in such a terrible situation! You had me laughing, despite how awful it must have been.

I feel you pain... Two weeks ago I had a 9, 6, 4, 2 year old all sick with the stomach flu at the same time.. Vomit was flying everywhere. Everyone had a nice helpign of RED Hawaiin punch before getting sick. And yes I ended up getting sick too!

Luckily, I don't think she is sick just last nights dinner didn't set well. I shampooed and conditioned her hair in the shower and a little while ago I noticed it still reaked (sp) I ended up spraying febreeze all over her head..lol I'll shampoo it out tonight. It helped though the nasty smell is gone. I've now moved on to washing our sheets and blankets you should have seen how much she drug into our bed.. ewww

ROTFL!!! Not at the incident, of course, but at your recounting of it! I admire what you can accomplish at 5:00 am on a Monday morning! That's probably the motto of so much of the "not fun" stuff in parenting, though: "we do it because we really don't have an option!"
