Biblemom-and other KY foster parents

Does the state of KY pay for daycare for foster children?

They do pay for a portion, but don't know the details. It was discussed in our classes but didn't pay much attention since it didn't apply to us. I watch 3 children of teachers so that I can stay home with our little ones. I will look through our foster parent handbook when i have more time if no one else responds before then.

Had more time than I thought! Couldn't find it in our handbook, so emailed my SW who happened to be online (have I mentioned we have the BEST social worker?!). Here is her response: "Yes. We pay up to a cap depending on child's age and level of daycare
(licensed, certified, or private)."

The state does pay for a portion of childcare. The daycare center my FD attends charges $115 a week. THe state payes $90 of that and I am responsible for $25 a week. Now, if you just have a babysitter, and not a certified/licensed caregiver, the state pays $10 a day to them. If there is a parent in the home that does not work, but you still want to utilize daycare, the state will not pay anything at all. Hope this helps.

Thanks kdoll! Daycare's around here are at least $140/week, so it's good to know that a portion would be paid.
