Wondering what a "maybe" respite might turn out to be....

We have been asked to provide respite for the 3yr older sister of Spiderman and Pinkdancer. The social worker says the foster mom needs a couple weeks off to decorate for Halloween. Is that hilarious or what?? We did find out today that the 1yr permanancy hearing is set in October and the TPR starts in November. Maybe with the new news the other foster parent is planning a respite and a bail out?? I know there are a few of you out there that can tell some stories about how you adopted your respite visitors. Plus also the foster mom is requesting any 2 weeks in October, none in particular. Does it sound peculiar to you??? We have to see if the daycare our Baby B goes to has a temporary opening for 2 weeks, and then we would consider it. LEt me know if I am crazy, haha.

Oh, have I seen this happen!

They probably realize that TPR is imminent and either don't plan on adopting her OR figure since you have 2/3 siblings you will get first choice to adopt her as well. I don't know the situation but it could be that or totally something else, like the family just needing some time away from the system.

How much time does she need to decorate for Christmas? LOL I don't think I'd believe that reason.

I was thinking the same thing, two weeks off to decorate for Halloween... do they live on a farm and have a few thousand people coming to a pumpkin patch?

I would try not to read into their motives... I might call them ask them their motives. But, I wouldn't guess.

Yes, you are crazy, but in a good way!

I would have questions also--I hope the answer is that this little one can come to you to be raised with siblings.

Let us know!!
